You wire the 50 amp plug as you normally would. L1 (red), L2 (black), Neutral (white) and ground (copper). The trailer use each of the 110 legs (l1 and l2). Meaning, your trailer won't use it as 220. Rather, each breaker in your panel is running on one of the 110 legs. It's your breakers that determine if it will use 220 or 110 (single breaker or a double breaker). Just like your house - a single breaker for a bed room (110) or a double breaker for a dryer (220).
