Crusader 335BHS odor patrol

Been having a nasty sewer odor lately in the bathroom area. Flushed tank 3x and took care of it for that weekend....now it's back...checked vent- clear...opened basement doors and damn near get knocked over...took the rear panel off the basement to gain access to the area where the toilet drain & vent pipe penetrate the floor. Zero signs off any moisture on any pipe connections but getting my nose as close to the floor holes as possible and really get it! (stench) Dropped the belly pan and also got the smell...NO signs of leaks. Got an appointment with dlr in a couple weeks...any other 335 owners getting this issue?

I would make sure the seal on the flange is good, its possible its not leaking water(it would not leak unless you fill the tank above the floor line) but the oder will leak.I would look at the seal first because you don't see any sign of a black water leak,I keep at least 5 Gal of water plus add tank treatment after I wash out to help keep the tank clean(and oder free) as your driving the water will splash around inside the tank. You said you checked the vent and it is clear. While up on the roof did you check to see if the vent pipe slid down and is sitting on the bottom of the tank? If it did the pipe isn't venting anything.

I have about 1.5" of pipe sticking out...when I was in bsmt I grabbed the vent & tried to move it...it didn't

I can not even see the top of the tank let alone any seals
I do the same as you for travel cleaning

You probably can't see it,you may have to remove the toilet and just replace the seal, this is not a recommended way but you could fill the black tank until the water is coming up into the toilet bowl but if the seal is leaking that will make a mess so put down towels if you go that route but check this link first, it could be a few things causing it!

Ok I'm a flip'n idiot! Solved it myself, I think....the toilet bowl was dry...I always empty before travel so as to keep it from splashing out...forgot to refill. Added 3" of water and the next day odor gone!
We're heading to WA DC then VA this week...will be a good test.
What an idiot!!!!

The kicker is I canceled an appointment with my dlr thinking it fixed itself!

If you check under the bathroom sink or kitchen sink is the smell stronger? If so there is a cap on the end of a pipe near the sink drain. It is called an air admittance valve and it needs to be replaced. $9 Home Depot.

Did you find the source of the odour? Just curious as I am interested in this unit.

Had a real bad odor in mine also. Took it to a repair shop after I drained and cleaned the black tank good. Checked the vent in the tank, it's ok. Next thing he did was take fill the black tank and toilet up to the rim and let it sit to see if there any leaks. All good. Figured the problem was I was not starting out with enough water. Should be 3 to 5 gallons, enough to cover the solids with water and allow the chemicals to work. Problem solved.

That is what I always do. After I dump and flush, I pour a 10L pail of water in the tank with 2 cups of Calgon softener diluted in the pail water. Keeps the walls nice slick so no sticking.

seems to be coming from the galley tank...going to check the venting when I get home from vaca. may have a nest or something blocking it.
