Crusader Jensen radio

I have a 270ret Crusader, that has a jensen radio in the Bedroom near the bed. The radio LCD light is so bright at night, it lights the room up. It has no way to turn the back light off. Would love to have the option to turn the light off at night.

I have the same radio and same problem. I use hand wash towel and hang it so it blocks the light. Crude but it works

You might try stopping by a window tint shop and see if they would give you a small piece of window tinting that you could stick over the display to tone down the brightness. Had to do that with an alarm clock one time and it worked like a charm.

If it's the same Jensen that we have in our Tracer if you go through the menu there is a setting for the display brightness.

Is there a setting for "OFF" (just for the blue backlight)?

Damn...... Another thing is the backlight is so bright that it makes it difficult to read the display (time etc.) from a distance. Kinda makes the remote useless cause I can't see the display from the comfort of my rocker due to the backlight.

I installed a toggle switch in the main power wire for the radio.

Called jensen today.....They told me that there is no way to turn back light off. I would have to wire in a toggel switch like (sbelliot) did. Jensen said use the solid red wire on newer units or the red/white wire on older units. This wire will only turn off the power to the back light.

Light In Radio

Got the same problem in our 270RET...thought about taking the unit out, and replacing bulb with something smaller or putting a tint cover over it..
Will check it out and see what is involved..

Realize your discussing the radio display. However, I use black nail polish on LED lights in our bedroom electronics. Such as the power standby on the TV and cable box. Problem solved.
