Dealer addon protections

Buying a new 2012 Prime Time 318BHS. The dealer is trying to sell me 3 protections. 1 for my roof, 1 for the paint and 1 for the interior materials (couch, carpets ect). He says that they are about 500$ each, but if I take all 3 that he can bring it down to 1200$. Any opinions on these products?

I agree - pass.

I don't know what they think they would be adding to make it worth your while. I always ask myself, if the treatment was significantly better than the non-treatment, than why isn't the manufacturer doing it at the factory? I know that doesn't always apply (e.g., Eternabond should be used by FR factories) but the logic usually holds up pretty well.

Also, sometimes its not even recommended. My roof is an Alpha TPO and their literature says there is no need for roof treatments.
It does not require the periodic application of products to protect it from ultra-violet light or ozone. In fact, these products can often cause damage to the roof membrane.
Maybe Primetime roofs need a third-party treatment but I don't believe it.

As for the interior, I wonder if they are scotch-guarding. What else could they do?

Paint treatment - is that waxing?

I really question these things.

wax your a couple of cans of scotch guard and do your own carpet and sofa, buy a $32 gallon of dicor, protectall or thetford roof treatment and treat your own roof. Save the 1200....better yet. Between this deal and the touring edition issue, sounds like you may want to talk to another dealer....whereabouts are you located? Ansley RV and Tom Schaeffers both have 318bhs touring editions on their lots but both are in PA.
