And I ordered the two SD boxes with my whole house order without question.
If you plan to transfer, you can use the ones from the house. You do NOT need to build a SWM system in the RV. My Sanibel had two home runs from the water bay, one to the bedroom and one to the main entertainment. With that being the case I use a standard SD dual LNB dish (actually had a stationary auto locating winegard installed on the roof, so finding a signal is just flipping a switch) with the LNB wired to each room. Even if I had HD boxes, both the HD and SD boxes are SWM and LNB compatible, so while the SD boxes where activated at my house which was SWM, I just changed them over in the RV to standard LNB with an 18" non HD dish.
Even a HD reciever on a non HD dish will get the SD channels, just not the HD channels.
But if you want to run SWM in the RV, you can setup a SWM system and feed older dual LNB into the system, or go with an HD dish which of course is harder to point in general.
Will direct tv question my new for two extra SD boxes? Would I be leasing those or buying them? Can I tell them it is for an RV install and do they even care? They know that the boxes would not work with the new system I am planning to have them install. I have 6 tvs at home and when I asked about more boxes they said 6 was all they could do...
I was hoping to install a system with an automatic satelite like the Winegard Carryout in this link. Winegard® Carryout® GM-1518 Automatic Portable Satellite TV Antenna | Quill.com
Can I simply wire this directly to my HD H25 Receiver? Will I have two wires from the dish .. one to each box? Ideally Id like to roof mount it and set it and forget it. I'd like to make it as easy as possibly to setup. I have so many other things to set up that it gets crazy. Most of my camping is beach camping with no trees, so even roof mounted it shouldnt have an issued finding a satelite. I leave my camper often and with an $800 satellite, Id like it to be secure and no sitting on the table where it could dissappear easily.
So essentially thats what I would like to do.
Connect the Winegard Carryout to at least 2 Direct TV boxes. I can use the 2 HD H25 boxes that essentially are in spare rooms in the house so they dont get used or if I could get two extra boxes and they would not care I could always do that and not have to move them at all.
Am I missing anything or is there a reason this would not work?
