I dropped it off a week ago. I should be getting it back this week. There were some delays. I'll let you know the quality with some pics when I can.

I have a 2015 Crusader 335BHS that I took delivery on in November 2015. Is there anything I can do or any product I can apply to help prevent this from happening?

Keep it covered...I had mine well waxed and it had no effect...it's the sun beating on poor gelcoat that does it.

Keep a close eye on it especially near the end of your warranty, the folks that caught it under warranty are the one with repair success.

It's being done at a truck body shop that also does RV's. The body shop does work for the RV dealership Primetime gave the job to. It's not my dealer where I bought it but closer to me. They, Primetime, are "supposed" to be paying for everything. I was assured by PT they are covering it.

One other thing I'd like to add. Mine wasn't covered nor was it in direct sun when stored. Maybe 4 hours of sun a day in the summer and no sun in the winter. I kept it clean but had the oxidation anyway. If you don't have oxidation yet, keep a close eye on it.

EDIT: Just got the call from the body shop that it's done! I'll be picking it up tomorrow. Then a critique with pics.

Picked it up and it looks pretty good. You can see some spots on top where it was taped off but I'm not loosing any sleep over it. No cost to me at all. Hopefully it will last. As requested, the large decal was left off. Thank you Prime Time for your attention to this matter. Feb 5 first call was made. A couple days short of 2 months for completion. Not bad at all.

Can you tell us what the body shop did? Sand it, paint it? Gel coat? Your pict looks like the OE. By the way the "Crusader" decal cost $60 plus shipping.

It's been sanded and painted. I assure you it's the "after" pic.

Thanks. My reply meant the "after" results looks as good (better!) than OE. I'm having an auto body guy come look at my Crusader. Just wondered what had been done to yours for comparison...no idea about the cost.

Thanks volwing1. The true test will come with time whether it was done well or not. Good luck with yours.

Looks great. I'll see mine on the weekend. Was good when put away last fall. Going into our 3rd season with it so hoping for the best. Not happy to hear even 2015 models are seeing the cap fade. Wow.

My bet is it was only clear coated...I have a friend in the body business that told me it would only take sand/clear coat to bring it back...I did an experiment of my own...a quick sand & 1 coat of clear to a small spot and he was right.

I doubt it unless the clear coat has brown in it plus half of the the Dicor sealent is brown too where it was taped off.

Does your friend have any idea of what to do to proactively avoid the problem?

I see that there is some debate if it is paint with a clear coat or if it is a gel coat (I have no idea what the difference is).

If it is paint with clear coat, I wonder if some auto products would work like Opticoat or if an auto paint shop could add another clear coat on top.

no unfortunately it's NOT paint/clear from the factory...if it was we wouldn't have this issue.(when was the last time you saw this kind of oxidation on a 1 year old car?) It's bad gelcoat.
Our front caps are not manufactured by FR or PT....there are 3 manufacturers of caps that build them to PT specs then PT puts the decals on them.

I was reading about some marine product built to protect gel coat. Anybody tried any of these. One website described oxidation on gel coat as rust on metal. For boat gel coats there are products to remove oxidation and seal it.

303 Aerospace Protectant may be the product. Blocks 100 per cent of UV. Apply after polish and must be buffed in to work. I have not tried it yet but soon will after using 800 grit and wax on a test area.

UPDATE:

just got a call from Rick @ Primetime...they're covering my repaint/new decals 100%!!!! Directed me to a different dealer than my selling dealer who in turn connected me with the shop doing the work. Looks like it's all set....hooray! My faith in PT has been renewed!!!!
