Most dealers just don't care after they sell you an RV but I have had some decent luck reaching out to the MFG's first with Shasta, and now with my Roo both owned by FR. Hope you get that issue resolved I see a lot of Crusaders with that cap issue.

Very strange how FR is handling this....no consistency at all. I just got mine back about a month ago from cap repaint....took a few phone calls but they did take care of it 100%. I'm well out of warranty.

I have the same model, same problem...I cannot find anything to fix it. Have you had any luck with Primetime?

Don't feel neglected. This appears to be an industry wide problem? I wonder how Keystone is handling it?

My trailer is just starting to fade. A friend of mine has a Keystone Cougar 5er that faded on him. It got repaired for free.

I just dropped my trailer off at FR in Dallas Oregon and they are going to replace the front cap. This has been an ongoing Saga and am glad that is is almost complete. My trailers is 3 years old from the date of manufacture and the warranty guy is telling me that the new caps are made of a better gel-coat. He also recommended that i have the front cap sprayed with a clear coat, similar to an automotive clear coat to protect the cap. Persistence and patience will pay off.....

I should add that i had to deliver the 5er to them and pick it up when completed. 5 hours each way for me but it seems like a fair deal to me.

Did you contact Forest River, or did a dealer do it for you? Luckily I am only about an hour away from the Forest River Dalles plant.

I initially went thru the dealer as i think that you should. At least give them a try first. I did that and the dealer sanded and buffed the cap and told me after they put the "sealer" on it that it would never fade again. in two months it looked worse than it did when i first took it in there for repair. I did purchase the 2nd year warranty and i first noticed the fading, the grey cap turning white about 3 months before the 2nd year was up. I then called the warranty guy at Forest River after my dealer stopped returning my calls and emails about their quality of work. The FR guy told me that if i was willing to bring the coach to him that he would fix it for me. Made an appointment two months ago, and made the appointment for the day i was returning home from a vacation on the Oregon Coast and dropped it off. they are pretty busy and told me that they were a week and half behind. which is okay with me as i am done with it for a while. I still have some concerns about the new cap fading so i am seriously contemplating on having the clear coat sprayed on. at my cost of course. Good luck.

Ok thanks. I am just worried that my dealer is trying to put it off until my warranty expires. I have mentioned it to them twice now and all they say is "let's see if it gets any worse." The top 10" is completely white, so how much worse do they want it?

I know i felt the same way, you definitely want to get it going BEFORE the warranty is up. If you PM me i will give you the contact info to the guy at FR that is helping me. Being that yours is a 2015 Maxx which replaced the Sterling edition that i have and your cap is fading too does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling that the new cap they are installing this week will be any better.

I have made some time to try and get my cap dealt with and I am getting somewhere. I am submitting photos to my dealer who will them submit them to PT. While it isn't fixed yet PT has at least said they are going to help. Let's see what that means. I am confident they will make it right. I feel incredibly lucky in that I have an amazing dealer and PT has been outstanding to me. Let's hope that trend continues.

Not only is the gel coat on our nose cone oxidizing on our 2012 3250 RES, we have discovered a "bulge" in the outside panel above the bedroom slide. Any reason why this would occur?

Water causing it to de-laminate?

I was at a park a couple of weeks ago and the guy guiding us to our site looked at the side of my crusader and asked if the gel coat was supposed to look like that. "That" = kind of a slightly wavy look as can be seen in your picture (not the bulge). He said most gel coats are smooth and reflect like a mirror and that he'd never seen it like mine. He said it doesn't look like it is damaged, just not what he is used to seeing.

That looks like something I would most definitely be concerned about. I would be going over my roof membrane with a fine tooth comb looking for possible water leaks.

I'd also be documenting this and getting in touch with Prime Time right away.

kohai, I have noticed my rig kind of looks 'wavy' as well in placed. Not overly bad, but it can be seen. In looking around other rigs it appears others are like that also.

Lost all faith in Prime Time and Forest River

I have the same problem with this supposed oxidation. It is funny that the RV center that I bought one of these has a brand new one on their lot doing the same thing. My unit was bought in 2011 and it now looks like it is 12 years old because of this. I understand their warranty, but WHO expects an RV to look like this in less than 4 years. I am sure that the cleaner wax solution will be very temporary and not be effective at all. Guess I will do business else where from now on.
