Do you know where your slideout manual racking points are?

Has everyone racked out their RV slideouts with the manual crank? You should try it. We have a 2014 Prime Time 295RST 5th Wheel and at our last campsite our right side slideout would not open with the switch. I located the hand crank and then proceeded to try to find the slideout motor manual crank shaft. After looking all around the frame, it was not to be found. I downloaded a Lippert slideout manual which showed the motors inside the frame enclosure. When I removed the cover, there was the motor, gearbox and drive screw. Only problem was, the manual racking shaft/drive nut was about 2 inches from the frame with no way to get a wrench on it. It seems Prime Time in their infinite wisdom or lack thereof did not drill a hole in the frame to allow manual cranking. I pulled the motor off and attempted to locate a new one at several RV dealers with no luck. My next thought was to remove the opposite motor and use it to rack out the slide, but thought I'd disassemble the bad motor, clean it and reinstall. Fortunately I was able to mount the armature in a drill and clean up the commutator with sandpaper, put it back together and it worked. Bottom line here - you need to make sure you can rack manually before you get stranded like we did! By the way, I purchased a new motor from Rec-Pro for $150 (18:1 ratio, 30 amp)compared to $500 dealer offers. It is made by original manufacturer and works great!

My PT TracerAir doesn't have a manual crank feature. It's a Schwintek slideout.

Finding everything to manually work my main slide is my next order of business. After having issues with my Schwintek slide, first time in over 11 years having a slide issue, I need to figure out how to get the main in if it fails.

Tons of Schwintek troubleshooting videos out there, including Lippert's website.

True, but the videos don't tell you where the controller is for the Schwintek slide. Like many other things relating to RV's, sometimes it's not always obvious and with every TT and MH it can and will be different.

That is true. Mine is located under the fridge.
As you say, very few things are located in the same place, on RVs, other than the awning. Even in similar floorplans.

I found mine while installing the glowsteps. I had to drill a hole in them to retain access to the manual crank arm.

My Schwintec controller was located near the outer wall, behind the wet bay. I had enough slack in the lines to relocate it to the other side of the wet bay, inside the driver’s side basement door. Took a LOT of finagling to move it, but, if I need to, I can reset it without removing the basement wall and crawling like a reptile into the ‘way under’. I would like to meet the Iddy-itt who put it there!!!!

I'd love to move mine. But, all the wiring is encased in the factory foam sealant and I can't even slide the wires through it. I'll probably wind up making an access panel under my bed so I don't have to tear the bed completely apart to get at the controller.
