Dometic vs. Carefree

What are the pro's and con's of Dometic slide topper vs. Carefree slide topper. I have always had Dometic on my previous 5th wheels (probably like asking Ford vs. Chevy.) Will the factory installed rails above the slide-outs work okay?

Your probably not going to get much of a response as to Dometic slide topper vs. Carefree slide topper.(pro's and con's)
I too asked this some time ago on here. That said , I did do a lot of homework on these toppers. But please note , I do not have toppers yet.

Suggest looking on both companies website.
Dometic has several different models to choose from and a new EZ line of toppers.

I would have to give the edge to Carefree of Colorado , as the acrylic/canvas material is far better than vinyl. They also cost more when I was looking last spring.

I was told for my unit, factory rail will work on 1 of my slides and the other 2 will need rails installed. Im not to thrilled about drilling a ton of holes in my unit either.

Hopefully some other members will chime in.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply and input. Just finished looking at the new EZ line of Dometic -- both deluxe and elite and will compare to the comparable Carefree line. I never had a problem with Dometic's vinyl and we camp a lot along the seashore -- heavy winds at times. The Titanium with the Dometic slide topper I installed I kept for 5 years -- the second Titanium I had the dealer install (got lazy) and kept 6 years before I got the Crusader. I have Maxxair 7500K and a Maxxair 4000K to install this Spring . In New England slide toppers are a must and I am getting too old :0) to climb up on the roof and sweep the debris off. I will post what on which one I decide on and my reasons why. Thanks again

I have had both and they work equally well. I prefer the carefree for the look and topper material but either is a good choice. Never had any problems with either manufacturers.
