Electric Fireplace Remote Control
Much like I didn't know that we needed an electric fireplace, I also didn't know we needed a remote control for ours. At our delivery walkthrough we noticed that the operating instructions tell you how to use the timer function, that is only usable from the remote control (no manual switches), but we didn't have a remote control. We have since learned that the remotes are no longer being shipped to the end consumer. Reason? From Sean at Prime Time:
"The fireplaces no longer come with remotes. They were having problems with them turning on tv, and radios in the units."
Just an FYI for anyone else needing this answer.

No problems controlling tv or radio with the fireplace remote we got with our 2013 Sabre.

Maybe you should send an email to Forest River(LaCrosse division) asking about the remote being discontinued.

Different question. For you all that do have that remote, is it a big deal at all that I don't have one?

ours came with the remote, and we have not used it once. The fireplace is either on or off.
I had noticed the timer function must be shutting it off from time to time...now I have to wonder if when using the remote for TV or Jenson audio/DVD we are engaging the timer.
Weird.

Well IMO this RC is no different than most other RCs, meaning that I could do the task manually if there wasn't a RC. However it is handy as most RCs are.
If I didn't have it, I probably wouldn't give it a second though.

I wouldn't worry about it. Our fireplace is either on or off. I don't have a RC for my interior lights and that doesn't bother me. Hey, wait a minute, that would be a heck of a mod .

as remotes go... Fireplace really not needed. Ours has an On/Off button that only works when the fireplace switch is in a certain position. Just as easy to get up and turn it on/off as needed.
And there are remotes for the newer LED lights in the rigs... right that would be a cool mod!

Mine has a remotr and it also has manual controls in the top right hand corner of it. My remote was stolen during a break in of my camper and I wanted to replace and I was told that I would have to but the whole fireplace at $560,00, so after a bit of research and a few e-mails, I found the manufacturer/distributor of the Greystone Model F2811FL and the lady that responded to my email said she would send me out 1. A week later it was delivered in my mailbox with $1.66 postage due. Money well spent!!!

My Dimplex didn't have a remote with it. Found it kinda of strange. Asked the dealer and was told that that model didn't come with one. Still find it hard to believe. Don't really need it but it would be nice not to have to keep opening the metal flap at the bottom.

Does the owners manual for the fireplace have instructions for using a remote control? If so, you should have received one. As for interference with TV/DVD...sounds strange. Two previous trailers plus an electric fireplace at home under the TV/DVD/Cable Box and wireless router with never a problem. I would contact the fireplace manufacturer to confirm.

Owners manual does have it & Prime Time says they are not shipping the remote. I think the only function that is affected is the timer, which only works from the remote. I may talk to them about it, or save the batteries & just forget about it.

If you don't mind me asking. What brand and model do you have??? Since mine didn't come with one and the owners manual doesn't mention it

I love my fireplace remote in my Lacrosse. Sure nice when sitting back in my lazyboy, sipping Appleton Estate Rum, dog on my lap, and now time to turn down the heat. Ta Da!

I think that Greystone fireplace in our Columbus rigs is a little fancier than the simple on off fireplace others are describing. The Greystone needs a remote to switch all the different modes and features. It controls thermostat, timer, embers, backlight, flame intensity, etc. If you are sitting, you can see a cool multicolor LED display of the settings in the upper right corner on the glass face of the fireplace. You need the remote with this one and the remote does not screw around with the tv/stereo.

We have a 2013 38FL - Not sure of the specific model or if the owners manual mentions it or not. The rig is away having some warranty work. Should be back in a week or so and will check.
