entry steps stuck

Tried to find a thread on this but didn't have all day to sift through the many search results. My manual entry step into my 2012 PT Tracer 230FBS TT was stuck and wouldn't retract until I leveraged it with a 6ft 2x4. We have had some rain but not sure if that would do it. Any suggestions on lubes, etc.?

looks like your entry step has hit something and is out of shape now causing this problem. It happened to me a while ago with my tent trailer. The best way to repair it if it is feasible will be to remove it from the frame and try to reshape it if this is your problem but for me I think this is the problem! Try to lift up the step at the same time that you open it toward you.

I don't think this is it, just got the TT and have not even done the maiden voyage yet. It's been parked next to the house but we've had somegood rains and steps always extended so that's why I thought rain affected them. Kinda new for this problem I would think. thanks tho

there are like 6 or 8 hinge points that get rusty and freeze up id spray the heck out of them and keep working it back and forth .

Mine was very stiff when i brought it home. Sprayed the pivots points with lube and the channels where it slides I greased. Smooth as butter! I am worried that dirt will start building up on the grease, so I'm going to try a dry lube soon.

My dealer told me that a little rust is good in this case. If the steps are greased up too much, they may just open when your travelling. Said he had it happen before.

Your most certainly right!
I had this happen once on a very windy day . Steps folded out once but not all the way.

I think I prefer the tight step instead of it opening while drving. I'll just keep that 5' board for leverage.
