Extending Safety Chauns

I just installed a Hensley hitch on my Tracer 3150. Now my safety chains are a bit short. Has anyone ran into this? What is the best approach for extending the chains?

In short, replace them with longer ones. My chains have a tag on them, with load capacity, etc., and you will need chains to support the tongue weight. Other option, I would get some chain, same size, and couple the pieces with one of the screw together links, found at hardware stores, tractor supply. Before you screw it together, apply loctite to the threads, then it will never let go.Just make sure the chain and coupler are rated for your weight.

Safety chains have to be load rated and are supposed to be one continous length. I'd replace them as Windrider said.

Replace or extend the chains as needed. I just extended mine, they need to be about 12 inches longer. I used chain from hardware store on the Wildwood, the dealer used chain from an extension package.

Enjoy your Hensley, we just pulled last Sunday with some gusty winds and didn't feel like there was any control or sway problem.
