Makes my $1000 investment in new (non-China) tires and a tire pressure monitoring system look like a pretty darn good deal!
Even though the Duros that came on my new fifth don't have the worst history, the Maxxis that I replaced them with are a billion times better.
Anyone need an almost-new set of Duros?

I'm sorry to hear about your damage but glad to hear your insurance is covering!

On a tangent, the whole "Chinese tire bomb" thing seems way over used. I firmly believe if the tires are used (not just sitting for months on end), inflated to the right specs, 5 years old or younger, loaded at the max or below, and run at 65 or below they will have little to no problems. Take care of them and they'll take care of you. There are always exceptions to the rule, and maybe the OP is the exception in this case, but I haven't read many threads with an OP admitting fault.

I sort of agree with you here - I have read some good things about the CB's and mostly bad things about them.

My own experience with the tires installed on my new 2102 Silverback is as follows:

The tires were Trail Express ST235/R16 Load range E (I know there are more digits/letters there, but I don't have that info here now. I inflated them (cold) to 80 PSI and never traveled above 65 MPH.

I keep a mileage log of how far I pull my 5FW and the right rear tire blew at 8,868 miles and I replaced the remaning three at 9,032 miles. This was in Colorado coming home after traveling in very hot weather in TX,NM,AZ,CA,UT,and CO this past July.

I have been told that 2 years and/or 10,000 miles is what you can expect out of any RV tire that is kept properly inflated, not overloaded and pulled at or below the rated speed limit.

Did I do good or was I just lucky? I don't know, but that is my experience.

80 psi, checked cold every morning I was on the road. Checked with a thermal gun at every stop. Had justed wieght a day before the first blow out, well under the rating for those tires. They had about 5-6,000 miles on them. One year and three days old. Camper gets pulled at least once a month. Parked inside a barn. First blow out about 68 degrees outside around 70 mph (yes I know) had been on the road about an hour. Second blow out cruise on 68 mph (again yes I know) about 85 degrees outside. Everyone can have an opinion on these tires, but mine is I will never have them on a trailer again !!! LT load range E tires will be on it before my next trip. I pull a trailer a lot of miles with my truck (flat bed and stock trailers) Guess how many of those LT tires I have blown out in the last 20 years...NONE !! I don't care to count the number of ST I have blown, let alone everyone else I know with a camper. Yes some people don't take care of them, or drive way too fast in the heat... But some people do take care of them , and still have more problems with them than a LT tires. At one time a new fifth wheel came with LT tires on them. They were the only thing out there with the proper rating to handle the wieght. Now that trailer builders can buy "china bomb" ST tires for cheap thats what they run on them.

Well right now we are around the 6000-6500 mark.We are going to WDW in Oct.which will be about 1900-2000 round trip.So if all things being equal in this case I should expect a blow out somewhere between MD. and FL.Wow talk about a self fulfilling prophecy!!
