Flex-AbleHose - Christmas Gift

Hello folks,

I wanted to check with you all on some discouraging news I learned after recieveing a X-Mas gift. You might have seen the info-mercials on the expandable water hose?

Well I recieved one for X-Mas (2-50') and as I was reading the instructions, that state more than once, that its intended for non-potable water use only.

It goes further to state not to drink directly from the Flex-Able Hose and that it should not be used to supply drinking water. - Reason - An outfoor hose may be exposed to conditions that can be hazardous to human health. If I recall correctly, the RV use was clearly depicted on their commercial. I'm pretty bummed!

Would anyone know if the company is being overly cautious or is it because their is something inside the expandable hose that would release into the water causing it to become non-drinkable?

They also state that it should not be left with pressure on it so that in itself would preclude it from being used for potable water use. I have a 50' one I use for flushing the black tank only or washing the camper.

I just called the company right after I sent this post. The rep put me on hold and then came back to say its becuase bugs or debris can get into the hose... Poor kid, he thought he was doing a good job too...

Since it was a gift, I'm sort of bumed. I can see using this with the lawn. Under presure I guess it would blow up like a balloon then right?

Hmm, I have a friend we camp with that just received 2 of these. I will have to pass this along to him.
