Floor Flex in 318BHS

Hello Everyone,

We are enjoying a week away and had a pleasent trip towing with our improved tow vehicle (See previous post). One thing we noticed on this trip is the floor flexing around the floor vent in front of the kitchen sink when stepping in that area. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or is there a problem we need to look into. If I recall correctly the floor is also a laminated panel type and not the typical OSB flooring substrate, can someone verify this as well.

The last thing I want to do is start tearing into the floor if a certain amount of flex is normal.

If you were to remove the vent cover, could you see the floor's construction?

If your LaCrosse says "LUXURY LITE" on the outside, it is a laminated floor.

To some degree, all floors flex a little - particularly in the kitchen area where we would typically install a holding tank. A structural failure resulting in excessive flex is very unusual, but . . . if it seems to be excessive, we'd suggest having a dealer look at it just in case.

I dont know how much yours are flexing, but i did notice on pdi that mine had a small ammount of give around the vent only.......i chalked it up to the vent and its associated hole in the floor?...it was not an ammount of flex that would make me think structural issue...kinda how the walls where the thermostat is mounted flex and bend when i push buttons on the a/c.......i dont like it, but i understand there has to be a balance between weight, cost, and FUNCTIONAL structural rigidity....but if yours seems excessive i would def get it looked at.

It is something that i can actually feel when i step in the area, and being in front of the kitchen we step there a lot. I was going to run down to the dealer and check one on the lot to see if it is similar, if not I will bring it in. I also noticed a bend in the side of duct work, I am not sure if it is a result of the flexing or just a sheet metal thing.

Thanks

HAARubicon, did you ever find out what the problem was? I just bought a 2013 318 BHS from an auction and im having the exact same problem. Id hate to tear into a brand new camper but I dont like showing off my TT and the first thing everyone notices is the soft floor around the vent in the kitchen. Thanks in advance!!!
