gate valve slide handle extension needed

A few days ago I started to set the camper up and when I went to pull the grey handle for the galley I found the handle missing. We have been traveling in Alaska and I guess the rough roads caused the extension to unscrew and fall off. The normal valve rod is still intact and I was able to unscrew the other grey tank extension off and use it to operate the galley valve. This is a difficult process as you can't see or touch the valve rod so you have to feel around with the end of the extension to find the end and thread the extension on. I started looking for a replacement but all I've found is a universal from valterra which uses a set screw to attach to the two rods. This isn't possible without taking the bottom cover off of the trailer which I don't want to do. Anyone have a source for the extension?
TIA
Pete

That has been a common problem.. Because the rod twists where it goes into the gate valve, it can not be tightened easily. I called Prime Time and they sent me a new handle, rod and small tube of Lock-Tite.

I went to the hardware store and bought 6" of 1/4"x 20tpi all thread and a coupling nut. I cut the all thread to ~2" long and then lengthened and lock tighted the grey tank handle.

Thanks for the info. My rod didn't break, it just came unscrewed. The extension handle is a hollow tube that is threaded on the inside. I don't have access to the rod to attach any kind of assembly, I need a hollow threaded tube. As recommended, I did contacted PT and they offered to send me a replacement. Still don't know where to find a replacement but my next try was a shotgun cleaning kit. I don't know if the threads are correct though. May be worth looking at if it happens again, although I'm going to come up with some sort of tether next time.
