Hard To Unplug

My new 50 amp twist lock cord is difficult to pull out of the RV. It goes on smoothly but unplugging after the counterclockwise twist requires a hard tug. Is this common? The cord is actually an adapter to 30 amp.

I would rather it pull hard then come out easy. Hard implies thighs contacts where easy would be just the opposite. My power cord also has to be wiggled to be removed.

Does you factory shore power cord fit the same?
Is the 50-30 adapter cord homemade?
Do you notice any damage to the spades?
A tight fit is good but bent spades or inexpensive aftermarket plugs are not.

Do you always unplug with the breaker off? NEVER NEVER NEVER plug or unplug with the power on at the plug. Especially unplugging with a load on. You will cause an arc that will erode your stabs (the metal plug prongs). This will make it hard to plug/unplug and can cause heating that can create further problems.

Look at you plug stabs. if they look 'bubbly', melty or have little round balls on the end, you had an arc and you should clean them up with a small file.

Mine does that as well, I use some die-electric grease on my plugs, it helps with the connecting and dis-connecting the plugs, it also prevents corrosion on the plugs.

The original cord is tight but not too difficult to unplug. I applied a dab of dielectric lube to the new adapter. Glad to report it now unplugs ok. Thanks for all your input.
