Help with size of interior light

Hello,

Hoping that someone has access to their Tracer or Lacross TT interior for this question. I'm looking to swap out the stock bulb for Command Lighting's upgrade LED lights and wasn't 100% on the demensions inside the housing unit itself. I forgot to measure the inside when I took this photo.

There are two options basically; a 2x2 or a 3x3. If the 3x3 fits with the existing lens, I would rather have that, as its brighter, but who knows the 2x2 might be bright enough as it is.

Please let me know if you have already done this excercise and if you can provide me the answer...

thanks! Joe

Hate to even acknowledge this but I'm not sure what you are asking

I'd be happy to answer but I'm at a loss for what you mean by "2X2" or "3X3".

Can you elaborate?

Sorry - when you remove the light cover (from the ceiling light) that little ballast area is what I'm referring to. When the light bulb is removed, would the 3" x 3" led board fit in the ballast and still allow you to put the lens cover on properly.

Hope that helps.

Got it - I can't speak for which one will work, but here's some measurements for you.

From side-to-side you've got about 3 3/8" that should be readily usable in between the sides of the lens. Obviously, the lens curves in and will cut that distance down as it protrudes from the base.

From the edge of the socket where the light plugs in to the raised area at the right of your photo you only have 2 7/8". This might be a problem for something 3" long. The raised area isn't necessarily where the lens is but might be too restrictive for a light. Don't know.

Sorry can't answer specifically, but that's a pretty close approximation on your measurements.

Good luck.

That works for me! I will go with the 2x2 boards. They are less expensive and should be more than bright enough. I'm ordering a single board and will post the update.

Thanks!
