Holy cow Lucy !!!

Sorry, I've been negligent. We brought our new Sanibel home on Wednesday May 01 and I'm just now getting around to posting about it. Man is this thing HUGE !!!. I obviously over estimated my backing skills. As you can see from the attached pictures, this is the best I could do in my driveway. One of the neighbors came over to watch the entertainment and commented that it reminded him of Lucy and Desi in the Long Trailer. The DW chimed in that it was more like Clark Griswold. I reminded them both that I didn't see the humor in it. Anyhow, were going camping Monday the 13th. So far we are just totally awed with our unit. It's gorgeous inside and out and I've found 0 issues. Next on the list is driveway mods, so maybe I can get it in and out better. Right now it's parked at the neighbors. He's an over the road driver and his driveway is set up for a big rig.

Nice and very large. You will have to widen your driveway to store your Ford Pickup so you don't park on the grass.
How about some pictures of the inside when opened.
Thanks for sharing

Make sure to have your "over the road" neighbour involved in the proposed design of the improvements of your driveway. He would be able to confirm there is enough swing room for backing in a trailer the size of your rig. Also, have a look above for overhead wires.

Enjoy.

Congratulations!
Isn't it awe inspiring to see your new 5er sitting at home? I know it was for my DW and I. I just looked at her and said 'what did we just do?'

On the driveway - I poured 13 yards of concrete for just the 5er pad, and could have used a bit more. It's all good though.

Have a great trip next week!

Thanks all, for the words of encouragement. The neighbor and I have already been in deep design conference, over beverages of course. I will post interior pictures once we get set up at the campground.

Yes, they're huge. But they sure pull well. You don't hardly know it's back there.

We just purchased a new sanibel as well. My wife took one look at the inside of the unit on the dealer lot and was sold.

When you look as several units all lined up on a dealer lot you loose perspective of size.

We went down a week later to pick our new rig up, they took my truck and installed the fifth wheel hitch. They escorted us back to the service area to do our final walk through and she saw the sanibel and truck together for the first time. She instantly developed a tick in her face. The size of the RV was overwhelming to her. I had tears running down my face from her reaction. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen. She still is in shock at what she has done.

That was kind of our experience. We saw the Sanibel at a RV show. It was just about the last 5er we had been in. The DW walks inside and say's "This is the one.". I checked it over carefully inside and out and agreed. In the following few days I was like, "Yea, no problem I can get it in the driveway", etc., etc. We went to pick it up and it was setting by itself inside the shop area of the dealership. I didn't say anything, but was rather wide eyed. Of course the DW is like "That thing is huge, I don't think it's going to fit in the driveway." Because of the wonderful Ohio wet weather we've had, I'm still working on a parking pad and the wife now calls "her" camper "The Behemoth".

A few days in it and she'll be very happy with the decision. What floorplan did you select?

We got the 3050 specifically so I could tow a 24' trailer behind it. In Michigan they let us tow up to 75' total length

Cheryl calls it her palace.

We do really like the unit so far.

Does that model come with a rear hitch/receiver? The others don't, and adding one would void your warranty. The frame on my 3500 isn't strong enough to tow a trailer behind it.

No it didn't come with a hitch. Haven't added one yet either. I know about the warranty issues, but not the lack of strength issues. I'll look into it more first.

Thanks

Congratulations! We have a 2012 and I said the same thing when we got it home...boy is this thing HUGE! Didn't seem so big sitting on the lot in Florida. Word of warning, don't forget that "swing" when you go through a gate....lol ask us how we know. We have a nice gouge that needs to be repaired on the right back, thankfully it missed the slide, so it's cosmetic. The one thing our unit doesn't have is Level Up which would be nice, but we already have leveling "down" as we know what it needs when on a level pad, so probably doesn't take any longer. Saw some of the changes in the 2013 at the FROG Rally (we did a factory tour) nothing major, would LOVE to have the Residential Refrigerator, but would miss our outdoor TV (well DH would miss it)
