Disclaimer: This will probably bore anyone who doesn't have a 329BHT or is considering one. But, if you do have one, any suggestions are appreciated.
One of the main reasons we bought the Lacrosse 329BHT was for the size of the fold out bed in the rear bunk room. Our teenage son is pushing 6 feet and the 329 had the longest bed we could find. Unfortunately, the design of the bed leaves a lot to be desired. There are several issues. First, the end foot board (for lack of a better term) is secured by 2 L brackets which are screwed into particle board. One or both brackets has broken every time we have used the bed. It is back to the dealer for the 3rd repair for this issue. An obvious design problem, as the L brackets can not possible support the weight on them. The screws have pulled out of the soft wood and most recently the L bracket itself sheared in half. Even if a solution is found to this problem, a bigger issue exists. When the bed folds out, the middle section of the bed is supported by 2 built in wood supports which fold out when opened. These supports (which are too short to keep the bed level) make the bottom 2/3 of the bed unlevel with the top 1/3 (which is located in the slide out section, with carpet underneath). So you end up with a nice "break" in the middle of you back when trying to sleep. How did this happen? On the 2014 version of the 329BHT the floor is carpeted. On our 2015 it is not. This difference in elevation, plus the slightly higher elevation of the slide out portion along with the failure of the designers to account for it make the bed so unlevel as to be nearly unuseable. Our cumbersome, short-term solution has been to put a long 2x6 underneath the foot board and those orange leveling squares underneath the wood supports in the middle of the bed. This almost makes the bed level, but you can still see that each of the 3 sections is not exactly lined up with the others. Carrying an extra long 2x6 and leveling blocks is a PITA and makes setting up and taking down the bed a "back breaking" chore. We have asked the dealer to get with the factory to see if they can come up with a suitable solution. IMHO, the best option would be to replace the entire rear bed setup (which must have been designed by Rube Goldberg) with a nice leather couch which would have an 80" pull out mattress). We love the rear bunk room and all the space back there, but if the bed doesn't work, it defeats the whole purpose.
If anyone else with a 329BHT has experienced a similar problem, I'd love to hear about it.
