Large slide issues

Purchased our 2012 Crusader 298 BHD in March. Love it! However, we have had some issues. Most would be considered minor, except for the large living/dining slide. We are currently on a month long vacation from Oregon, through The Tetons, The Big Horns, Rocky Mountain National Park, and now south Texas. Things were going very well until one morning the button for the large slide was red hot to the touch. We tried to run the slide out and it was so slow, that we chose not to run it out the entire way fearing we would not be able to get it closed. We were finally able to get it into a dealer who said the motor was bad. They could overnight the parts, costing us at least $150 for the express shipping. They said they could not guarantee that the parts would come in nor could they say for sure that they could get the motor operating properly before we had to leave in 2 days. We decided not to go with the "maybe's" and now have an appt in Oregon next week when we get home. The trip back will be challenging as we are not opening the large slide. Which means we are not going to be able to cook or utilize any of the large living space. The good news is that we will still be able to use the master bedroom and the bathroom. We love the trailer, but we are frustrated! We are optimistic that Primetime will make this situation right and that we will be on our way again soon!

Why would you not manually crank it in and out?

Well, that would not be my department. :-). My husband said the tech at the dealership showed him how to manually crank the slide if he had to, and that it would be easier if he had a drill, which he did not bring one of the many that he has. My husband told me he really does not want to crank it manually, so we have decided not to.

Was the switch hot before or after he tried to move the slide. From the sounds of it in your first post it was hot when he first tried to move the slide, if that's the case then it's not the motor but the wiring behind the switch some place.

That is what we thought as well. We told the tech exactly what was happening. He did an inspection of the unit and said it was the motor. So, it will be interesting to hear what the tech in Oregon has to say.
