Looking for information and discussion

Making the switch from bumper pull to fifth wheel. Purchased 2013 Ram SBT 2500 Diesel. Plan on purchasing a Crusader 295. I do not have a hitch at this time, and I am concerned about bed clearance. I am considering the B&W Companion. I would greatly appreciate suggestions and discussion on this combination.

I have nothing but good to say about my B&W hitch.

I have a tall 4x4 newer (2012) truck and haven't had any clearance issues or nose high issues when hitched up. I have 6" or so between the two..

I did make contact with the bed/tailgate and fifth wheel when I sunk one side of the fiver into the grass a good 8". I'm not sure there would have been enough clearance with almost anything to save me from myself that day.

I have a 295 and use a Pull Rite Superglide hitch with my F250 short bed. Love it. No worries. Seamless hitch unhitch and turning.

I have a Reese 16K manual slide in my F-150HD. No issues with hitch up or unhitching.

I bought a 16K Reese with a manual slider for my 2011 F250 short bed and so far have never had to use the side option. I just wanted the piece of mind.

Can't go wrong with the companion. I only wish they had the slider version back in march when I bought mine. If you want simple, but extremely dependable latching in, and the ability to have a completely clean bed in 15 minutes, you gotta love the bw companion and companion slider!

Crusader 290 RLT. Originally had Reese PRO Series 15K. Had a lot of chucking. Switched to the B&W Patriot. Pulls great.
