I think you are doing this right! Your personal comfort level while towing is worth more than any free upgrade, and I know I would not enjoy pulling something over the posted limit.

That being said I would also not trade your truck until you have possession of the new 5er and are happy with it. The only thing that could make this situation worse is if you move forward with the truck trade and dealer backs out on their offer for the upgrade. Best of luck and keep us in the loop!

I am going to call and see how I can get some sort of written guarantee tomorrow about them agreeing to the upgrade. Without that I agree I cannot make the truck upgrade, not that a 3500 would be a bad thing to have but if it is not needed the ride advantage, although small, of the 2500 would be nice to have.

Like someone said move your accessories to the new truck, the added Value of a new fiver will more than offset any loss you mite incur with your truck, but since you started with a used truck any loss should be minor IMHO

Talked to pt this morning. Found out I was expected to to pay the difference in models if I chose to upgrade. That is not in the finances right now so I guess all this has been for nothing although I have learned a TON. Thanks for all the assistance and advice. I will have a beautiful lacrosse with some free upgrades to it and I will be happy with that. I guess I misunderstood what my options were to upgrade.

No apology needed or expected. Open discussion to help decide what to do is what this forum is about. Not knowing what you're possibly getting yourself into is a big mistake and can be a very expensive lesson to learn. Good luck and congrats with the replacement rig.

So, are you keeping the old truck?

Sounds like you have A) a new trailer just like the old one and B) a MOST amazing story to tell around campfires for years!

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner.

We're up to 110 posts, so I don't remember if it was discussed, but:

Did you have all your "stuff" in the missing TT, or had you removed it before taking it to PT? If your stuff was in it, are they reimbursing you for it?

We have most of it but things like the upgraded mattress , pots and pans bf things like that were in there. Figured up to about $2500 in items. They are covering that.

Spoke with PT sales. They are finding me a new lacrosse with the dual a/c's, and extreme thermal package. Once located it will go back and get slide out toppers put on and I am buying a maxxair fan and covers which they will install for me. Than off to the dealer, they will do their PDI and I will be called to go sign the papers and pick her up. So far so good, seems like everything is working out
