As others have said, this is going to be a very interesting resolution. I suspect we're all going to learn something here; provided the OP responds with all the juicy details after he's made whole.

Still considered at total loss. Theft is considered comprehensive.
Typically when insurance totals a vehicle, collision or comprehensive, they write you a check for fair market value and add on the cost of tag, title and tax.

This is a different situation all around since its not really going the insurance route.
Honestly the op will have to register it, so tag and title fees will still apply. I don't know how his state or dmv is going to resolve the tax issue, but i bet he is on the hook for the taxable value of the unit.
May have to have the lien holder re-do the note and show the first loan payed off just to be now have that same amount applied to the new collateral.

This is coming from working in the insurance and body shop industry. Also some of the ttt rules will differ by state.

Holy cow A lot of over thinking going on.

Its really easy. Primetime has one of their dealers in the state where the OP lives do the transfer. All it takes is a call to the finance company and some paperwork to swap out the lien and loan stuff if the OP has it financed. All a bank cares about is if they have collateral. As far as tax its dependent on the regs in the OP's state, no matter if its only on the difference in value or full amount, Primetime either pays the tax portion or reimburses the OP for it. Primetime then takes a write off for the new one as a loss.

The OP needs to get rid of the title so they can cancel the insurance on it. I hope someone reported it stolen to rid them of the liabilities associated with ownership of it.

So far no call from Prime Time. I did however receive a call from the Wakarusa Police Department to answer some questions for the police report, I think it should have been filed a long time ago but that is neither here nor there. My insurance company explained to me that after 15 days post police report that if it is not located it is a total loss and they replace it. I am hoping at this time my insurance does not have to egt involved and Prime Time makes it right without them. I have no reason to believe this will happen at this time. According to my contact there this whole deal, however it goes down, will be no out of pocket money for me. He did tell me they are self insured so like someone else said, it will be a right off for them and they will be come the holder of the stolen title in case it is found. The lean company only wants proof of the new camper to transfer the lean to, that is all, oh and to make sure it is something of more or equal value...which I would hope they would think I am smart enough not to get hosed. I will keep everyone updated as detailed as I can as I find things out.

Received a call this morning. Even though the police report was filed, basically to cover their ass, They are going forward with the replacement. At this time they are looking for me a 337QBH and a 37BHQ crusader to look at before deciding which replacement we would like to accept. So far so good on the process. I am supposed to here from them tomorrow about locating these units for me to look at. If none of them fit the bill we will stick with what we originally had but if the opportunity is there to go to a fifth wheel we would like to if it works out that way. And the saga continues.....

In my case(totaled) my insurance company refunded the amount of sales tax on the payment value of the RV.

I do need to up date the statement about not being compensated for tax monies, my DW informed me the Insurance company did pay us for the lost tax money. She Knows

Well no call from PT today, After much research and headaches I cannot see that there is a safe way to pull the 370bhq with my silverado 2500 with the dmax. So I emailed them and told them to just find me the 337qbh to look at and than we will decide between that one or another lacrosse. I hope they can locate one close before the weekend so I do nto have to take time off to go look at it. Unless someone here can tell me I am wrong about the 370 being to heavy for my truck

From what I read about the camper you should be able to handle with your 3/4 ton duramax weight is around 10500 don't know what the cap is tho. Check the door jam on your truck for towing caps. Later RJD

I am not worried about the towing capacity, that is 17,100, I am worried about the pin weight exceeding the payload. Payload is about 2750, pin weight is already 2100, add 300 for the hitch and I do not have a lot of room to play with...unless I am doing this all wrong. I have never owned a 5ver so I am just going by what I have read.

We did look at that pone as well but the outside kitchen is something I use every time we camp no matter if it is on vaca somewhere or sitting at our seasonal spot so that is a must have. Even lookign at the 337 we loose the option of the 12cf refer but tons of people do it on the normal 8 so I thin kwe can manage.

I would take the Larger trailer in a heartbeat and not worry about a little extra weight, You can never have an RV that is to large

I tend to agree. If you a frugal about the way you load the basement & don't go overboard I think you could keep it under or close to your payload. Not ideal but, if you could fit some "stuff" in the bunkhouse just during travel, that would lessen the pin weight some on the 370BHQ.
