I too, got rid of a gasser for a diesel...worked out perfect...took a lot of looking until I fell upon my present TV with only 89k on the clock. Ended up being an even trade for my '10 Silverado 2500HD. A diesel 1 ton is the way to go...dually if you can find one. When semi's blow past me @ 75+ mph I don't even feel it.
The only gripe I have with the 335BHS is the headroom in the master bdrm....but not much time spent there so it's no biggy. I too searched high & low between the Cougars, Wildcats, & Salems....when we walked through this one we knew we found the one. Sure there are nicer ones out there but then the $ skyrockets...this one had the most bang for the buck.

Good luck!!!

Wink Update!

Itís been a while and thought I would give you an update on our search!
We found two dealers with-in 3 hours of us that sell the PT Crusader we want. General RV in MI and Tom Raper RV in IN.
As of now Tom Raper RV is giving us what we think is the best deal for a 2014 335BHS Touring Edition with 16" Aluminum Wheels, Champagne High-gloss Fiberglass/colored Front Cap, Crusader Advantage Pkg, Crusader Power Plus Pkg, Crusader Touring Edition Pkg, Soft Touch Leather Fabric, Swing Arm Grill
The base price of the RV is $57,678 and they are selling it for $34,995
They stated that the PDI is built into this price also and that I am not paying for it, hmmm?
Both LP tanks would be filled, they will have a Tech do a walk through with me and have another Tech video tape it with an IPOD and they will mail me the video. They are also giving me whatís called Coach Net Basic (like a road side assistant program) I can upgrade for $2K. They will also give me some free camping vouchers and yes I asked if I would have to sit through a presentation and he said yes. They will also give me a $100 voucher toward a starter kit.
Manual sliding hitch installed for $1300
Document fees $200
Tax $2200
Grand total $38,695
General RV wants us to order one because they are telling us they canít keep them on the lot and Tom Raper has several in stock I think thatís why they are cheaper.
With ordering one thing General RV is asking us is if we want to upgrade the windows? The unit comes standard with single pane windows and for $1800 I can upgrade to dual pane windows? I asked them how much weight that would add to the unit and the PT rep said it would add around 600-700lbs. They are telling the dual pane glass will keep noise out and keep the coach cooler in summer and warmer in cooler climates. They also offer a 2nd AC what are your thoughts? I am leaning toward no since I have to work like 30 more years before I can retire and wonít have the vacation time to get that far south for a long period of time.
And I am still searching for the truckÖ

I'd skip the windows

I would pass on the General RV offer.

Tell Tom Raper RV to upgrade the AC to a 15,000 and they have a deal.

Price sounds quite reasonable IMO. Everything we got with ours, except for the champagne color.
I'm not a fan of General RV (personal experience with my Crusader), so I would go with Raper.
And I wouldn't go with the window upgrade. We like our single panes just fine, and don't need the dual AC either.

I did this - give the sales guy one more task and ask them to throw in the hitch installed and it's a deal.

Go get it!

Sounds like a great deal (Raper). Unless living in it full time, I would say NO to everything EXCEPT the 2nd air conditioner. A unit that large would have a hard time keeping up in hotter temps. My 303RKS with 1 13K a/c runs constantly on 90+ degree days just to keep it comfortable.

So, go for it!!

IMHO Front AC 13,500 and low profile. It will give you about 5 more inches of clearance.

1st - The price from Tom Raper sounds great.

2nd - Regarding the dual pane windows, the extra weight I have seen mentioned several times is about 100 to 150 lbs (not 600 lbs). The benefits mentioned most often from those that have had both is: quieter inside and less condensation on the glass. The bad thing mentioned occasionally is fogging between the panes. Most people who have had both say the next RV will have Dual Pane.

Prime Time does not list Dual Pane windows as an option on the Crusader. I want them. Are they really available on the Crusader? Do any Crusader owners have them?

I inquired about dual pane on my build, it was NOT an option direct from the factory. Even if I paid out of pocket. Too bad, because we winter camp and it would have been a great addition to the 5'r.

I would opt for the second A/C. Even in these northern climates in extreme heat it is difficult to bring the temp down inside with one A/C. In fact I'll be adding a second one to our rig in the next year or so.

You don't mention slider toppers, get them. Period. We negotiated them into the deal.

That pricing seems fair to me.
