Odor underneath kitchen sink

We have a 2014 Crusader 330MKS and we are getting an odor coming out of the galley tank. I replaced the cap underneath the sink once about 2 years ago. But I am thinking the p-trap should keep odors from coming back. Thoughts?

Maybe something in the p-trap itself?
If not, maybe the tank needs cleaning. Might pour some bleach in it, fill it up and let it set for a few hours and then flush out.

Do you have one of these vents below the kitchen sink? The occasionally fail open.

X2. Probably your air admittance valve. All your sinks should have one to allow air behind the draining water since in RV's there are no vented stacks out the roof. Look under your sink on the drain line and you should find one beyond the p-trap. It is probably not closing properly.

I do have one of those and replaced it about 2 years ago. Is there any maintenance to it?

Yep. That is what I replaced. Is there any maintenance to it?

No real maintenance . If you are camping, try tapping it with a screwdriver. If not replace it. Relatively easy.

If you have a length of horizontal waste pipe between the sink drain and the trap, sediment can settle on the pipe and cause an odor. If you can find no other reason for the odor, take it loose and run a rag through it to polish it up.

x2 on the air admittance valve replacement....also always keep a few gal of water in the galley tank...I found out how bad it can smell when there's little/no water in there.

X3 on air admittance valve. By the way, you can get them at Lowes/Home Depot with out the RV markup.

Smell under kitchen sink

We had this smell coming from under the sink area, which is where we kept a garbage can. We would take the garbage out but the smell was always there. I finally realized we were using scented garbage bags and the smell was worse than the garbage. We switched to un-scented bags and problem was solved. Go figure.

Put 3-4 gallons of water and an oz or two of Odoban down sink. It should eliminate any problem coming from the grey tank.

I take my vent and soak it in hot soapy water then wipe off the surfaces on the diaphragm and plastic. Works for me.

The odor from ours turned out to be from a cracked vent pipe (from sink that goes to roof) that apparently broke.

Hey thanks for the tip. I did not know that. I will check tomorrow. Right now we have the honey wagon hooked up to the grey tank and letting it just go straight through. No smell.
