Open or closed tanks ?

We have a 2015 TT Lacrosse, not very experienced with it. My husband decided whenever we are at a campground and hooked up to their sewer line to always leave all the tanks open, to continuously get rid of all the waste instead of keeping it in the tanks. Is this ok?. and if not what problem could this leaving them open cause?. Tks.

Don't leave black tank open.....Use lots of water....Or you'll end up with a cement tank......

It is OK to open the Grey tank valves and leave them open but DO NOT leave the black tank (toilet) valve open. The water will run away leaving solids and toilet paper stuck to the bottom of the tank and create HUGE problems.

Also you are going to need to treat the black tank with chemicals, a Blue Streak dispenser or the GEO method to keep the smell at bay. (and another reason to keep the valve closed) Google or search this forum for any of those and you will get days worth of reading.

EDIT:
As a side note, many do not leave the grey tank valves open for a couple of reasons... while you shouldn't put any solids down the kitchen sink, sometimes small particles can accumulate in the grey tank too. A full tank will always help flush those out. Second, many of us use a full/partially full grey tank to 'flush' the sewer hose once the black tank is emptied.

If we are just weekend camping, I don't open my grey valves as we can get by for that amount of time. If we are somewhere longer, I'll open my grey valves (I have two) and then shut them a day before leaving to let the tank build enough liquid to flush the sewer hose.

All great advice. I will ad that I've been using Aqua Chem in my black tanks for years. I think it's the best.

Def. keep black closed as mentioned. I also keep my gray closed and full so that when I dump I can dump black first and then dump the gray. That way the "cleaner" water washes out the black water in the hose.

I would also close the grey some time before emptying the black tank then after open the grey to flush the hose.
