Ouch again and again :-\
I guess I'm going to need to replace that light over the dinette with a flush against the ceiling light. Every time i go to place or pick something up on the table, I bust my head on the low hanging light fixture, when the existing fixture could have been placed more over the center towards the wall.

Take the light off the ceiling momentarily. See how large the cut out is and
is the light simply screwed to the ceiling or is there an actual electrical box?
MY light over my table is screwed to the ceiling- no box.
If yours is similar you can do 2 things--
Move the light back towards the wall as far as possible without showing
the hole and
Turn the light 90 deg so the 2 glass shades are side to side rather than
front to back.
You might gain enough to save your head and the light!
Good luck!

You could also install the newer round light that does not hand down and mounted a lot closer to the ceiling. Later RJD

So the 90 degree angle is enough to make a difference? I had pondered on the idea, but didn't go through with it.
Sitting in my recliner directly across from the light and table I can now see how that would work. If the light fixture gets hit many more times the one light is going to break loose from the base after being bent back into place do many times.

Just might have to do that. I've had to replace the cheap bathroom sink faucet, buy all sorts of metal racks for shelving in all the cabinets, that I just would hate to change out such a bright and attractive LED light fixture.
