Outlets not working after GFI reset- help please

Hi.. new Here and hoping you guys can help. Yesterday I plugged in an air freshener into the GFI outlet and I didn't know if it was working so I tested the outlet and it disabled the television and DVD outlets. This has happened in the past and when I reset the GFI the outlets came back to life. This time when I reset the GFI outlet the outlet behind the TV and the DVD did not come back to life and still have no power. Everyone talks about having two GFI's but I can only find one and have only ever seen one in the bathroom. I have also reset the breakers more than once and everything seems fine. Any thoughts?

Most GFI outlets have a very small red or green like that will come on when the GFI ckt has the power on. Is your light on? If the light is off and will not reset then you may have to change the GFI outlet, they do go bad fairly often.

What type trailer? I believe if my mind is working correctly on my PT Crusader I do actually have 2...a GFI and GFCI maybe something like that. Anyway...I have one in the bathroom and I think(read above) the other is in the storage bay?? I haven't looked since I winterized it so I could be crazy. Just throwing it out there...I can try and verify depending on what PT you have. Good luck.

it does have a light but it's not on. Thing is the GFI outlet is working. I plugged something into it and there is power. Doesn't that mean it is reset? Ugh!

Thanks for the reply. I have a 2016 Forest River Lacrosse LST330RST
I've been looking for a model specific owners manual everywhere but they all appear to be general TT manuals. Any help is greatly appreciated. So frustrated.

Generic owners manuals are the standard in the RV Industry.
Only a handful of manufacturers provide any model-specific manuals.

Sounds like a bad GFCI.
The indicator light means different things on different makes of GFCI outlets.
Sometimes the light means OK, sometimes it means a problem.
If the GFCI outlet works and the protected downstream outlets do not, I suggest replacing the GFCI outlet. I've seen this and the GFCI outlet was bad.

Sometimes when a GFCI trips, it will trip the breaker as well. You can not reset the GFCI of the breaker is tripped. Check the breaker ( not fuse)

We had that issue as well. Mainly when washing the trailer. I think water was getting in somewhere. Any way. Changed the gfi and it worked for awhile, and yes, you have to completely toggle off the breaker and turn it back on.

The OP states there is power at the GFCI outlet, just the downstream outlets don't work. Likely not a breaker if the outlet has current.

It's not a water issue. It's my fault kind of. I tested the outlet because I wanted to make sure the plug in air freshener was working. Resetting it should have brought the outlets back on again but it didnt. It was working just fine before I tested it and the GFI outlet is currently working... just not the two outlets connected to it. Everyone says there may be two GFI's but.. can't find another one anywhere and can't find a manual to tell me if there is one. I did this in the past and it came right back on, that's why I didnt think it would be a big deal to test the outlet again.

There won't be another GFCI inline with the one that's not working. There may be another GFCI somewhere controlling OTHER outlets but not the outlets controlled by the one you tested.

Trip the gfci again and reset it. Sometimes this works. If it doesn't and you still have power to the gfci, then either you have a loose wire on the load side of the gfci, or a bad gfci.

We replaced the GFI and it works but the other outlets in the circuit still don't. I don't get it. the original GFI outlet worked too. Why won't the other outlets come back on? I just don't get it.

When you installed the new GFI, did you make sure to wire it correctly? If you wired it correctly, then something weird is going on. You may have to start following the wires around and see if something fishy turns up. And/or find someone familiar with 110VAC wiring to help you.

My experience with gfci's are some that provide down stream protection to other outlets are wired differently. There should be instruction in or in the box that spells out the procedure for stand alone and downstream protection.
Just a thought.
