I think what he is saying is that there is no barrier between the back of the outside speakers within the cabinet in the camper.
That seems strange that they did not box them in with anything. You have a different trailer than me, but I'm going to check mine to see how they have been installed. If you can get to the backside of the speakers, which is sounds like you have, it shouldn't be too difficult to build boxes around them. Way back when, in my youth, I remember buying covers for the speakers in the back deck of my car that were made out of heavy cardboard and insulation. The point of those were to push the sound back up and out the speaker instead of getting lost in the truck. Same principle should apply here though.
