Picking up Crusader 320RLT on Monday

We are going to pick the Crusader Monday at 1. This is our first NEW one. Does anyone have any suggestions of things to make sure we check and do.

There is a PDI checklist posted over at Rv.net forum if you do a search...you may want to print it off. Most dealers have a checklist as well. Open every door, work the slide outs, jacks, turn on the stereo,......You may also want to video tape the explanations for operation so you can remember how to do everything....especially troubleshooting instructions if things break. Make sure the keyless works..some have dead batteries while there are short circuits in others.....Good luck and enjoy..you are going to love it.

Find out where the water heater bypass is... (and let us know too!) They said it was ready to go when we picked it up.. it had been winterized. We have water, but the water is not going to the water heater. So... we dont have hot water yet. They said they bypass it when they pump antifreeze to winterize it. Cant find it, and we will be calling the dealer again on Monday I guess. (Over an hour away... so not easy to just drop by)

Water heater bypass is behind the access panel inside the front driverside storage door. Take the screws out to gain access. Basically behind the central connection compartment.

I hate it when they show you where the on/off switch is for the hot water heater is but, don't warn you about turning it on without water in the tank. Hopefully, you didn't do this yet. The heating element will burn out in seconds. If so, you will have to operate the heater on propane until the element is replaced.

I could be mistaken but I could swear I was told our water heaters won't turn on unless there's water in them.....I may be thinking of something else, can't remember exactly.

Maybe they have incorporated a water level sensor in the water heaters. If so, that's a GOOD thing. But, I don't remember any mention of that during the walk-thru on my unit.

I don't think there is a water level sensor in the hot water tank. They did warn me about turning on the electric heater with out water in it during our walk through. Guess it depends on the person doing the walk around with you. Seems like there should be a checklist used by the dealer while doing the new owner orientation. That's a important gotcha to be aware of.
