Potable Water Unusable Capacity
What is everyone's experience with the amount of unusable capacity in the water tank? I measured mine at 6 gallons. My 296BHS has a 48 gallon tank.
Any ideas how to improve this? Maybe I should contact Prime Time to see how the tanks are plumbed (through the top, sides, bottom) to see if I could tip the tank towards the suction location.

Unfortunately, that 5 or six gallon estimate is pretty close to accurate, as these things are plumbed on the side of the tank, on a flat tank at that, and need to produce suction so that the water must stay above the exit hole. Being level when using the tank is about all you can do to maximize the most out of the tank, unless you can verify where the exit location is, and tilt the camper more towards that direction to get more out.
I carry 3 extra 7 gal. water jugs for that reason; mine has a 30 gal. h20 tank, I think. Randy

IF you're going by the sales brochure for your trailer
you can subtract 6 gallons for the water heater.
They include it in the total "water capacity" and of course
you can't use what's in the WH unless you drain it
into a bucket.

Measured mine 2 weeks ago and the pump starting sucking air with 4 gallons left in the fresh water tank.

Again, depends on the physical tank size (flat area), and where the manufacturer decides to install the exit fitting; and trailer level. All are NOT created equal!! Randy

If your tank is like mine, it has the drain coming out of the bottom. Move the pickup hose to the drain and plug the old hole. I bought a ball valve and some fittings so I can still drain the tank without having to disconnect the pickup hose.
