Prime Time is not as great a company as they say they are

In March of 2011 we were looking at new campers and had narrowed our search down to 2 campers, a Crusader 290RLT froma dealer in New Hampshire and a Wildcat 293MK from a dealer in NY. Each unit had features we liked and features we disliked (or liked less then the other camper). It came down to us liking the Crusader 290RLT better, however we had one huge hang up that was going to be a deal breaker, the transition from the linoleum to the carpet in the area of the fridge. With the original layout the fridge appeared to be in the living room and not the kitchen, people would go from linoleum to carpet to get to the fridge. We asked our dealer if a modification could be made and they said the factory said no. So, we decided to buy the Wildcat, but in our minds we really wanted the Crusader. So I asked one final question, if we paid $500.00 for the modification would the factory do it. This time our dealer said Prime Time would do it, so we paid an additional $500.00 for the modification we requested. We sent the curved design we wanted to our dealer and the unit was ordered, with the modification.

Our camper came in and short of a few problem here and there we enjoyed it very much this past camping season. The curved transition that we designed looks and works very well.

Even though we just bought a new camper, I still look at campers just to see what's new. I can tell you that when I looked at a few new 290RLT's online I was very surprised to see our design in every 290RLT camper I could find online. I'm sure once ours was done, Prime Time saw how much of an improvement it made to the camper. I am also sure that it will help them sell more of these units.

What I find frustrating is that we paid $500.00 for a design that they are now using on every 290RLT. I contacted Prime Time and asked not for royalties on the design, but felt we should should be reimbursed the $500.00 for helping them make a positive improvement to a poor layout/design.

Guess what, they said no.............So I asked for some extended warranty in lieu of the $500.00 back, said that if the campers were as good as they say they are it wouldn't cost them anything. Guess again, still no.

Don't know why we should have to pay somebody to help them design a better mouse trap. I have documentation of the time line and passed this on to them.

As far as I'm concerned Prime Time is not who they say they are, so think twice if you are thinking of a Prime Time camper.

Sounds like you made a special order, got what you wanted, and love it right?....
I would just take it as a complement and enjoy camping lifes too short to get upset over $500 on a camper of that quality and price range.
I say well done. Hopeful, others of us can enjoy your idea

Are you being serious or is this a joke? You want royalties because you claim that Primetime used your idea. This has got to be the most absurd thing ive have ever read on any forum. Two duplicate posts on this, I think your are trolling.

Read the post correctly before commenting. He didn't ask for royalties. He simply asked for a refund for a modification that is standard on subsequent models. I think his request is valid and Prime Time should offer some good will payback.

I think most of us have made modifications to our trailers that should have been that way from the factory. There are several things that I would still change but couldn't easily be done at this point. I would be glad they accomodated your wishes when they built the trailer and go forward.
