Problems with front cap on Spartan

Is anyone else having problems with the front cap on a Spartan fading and the gel coat cracking at just 14 months old?

See the other larger thread about oxidation on caps.

While most aren't cracking they are discoloring like yours.

Mine is at the dealer for a repainting of the cap.

Get this to your dealer right away.

Thanks. The dealer wanted the pictures I took and date of manufacture for Primetime they say they're working with people even if out of warranty.

Angry

I have the same problem on my Coachmen Chaparral and scheduled to drop it off at the dealer on Sept. 14 so they can submit pictures to Coachmen. I observed over the Labor Day weekend at the campground we were staying that it is a problem industry wide. Wildcat, Silverback, Jayco Eagle, etc. All with dark caps but even the silver/gray caps. If you Google you will see all of the complaints as well as on this forum.

I have a 2015 Crusader 295 RST with the same discolouration on the front cap. Dealer has said that he will schedule the unit for repaint ASAP. I have read a lot about owners being really disappointed with FR/Dealer response to complaints, but everything that needed to be done was done on our unit. Makes me wonder if a majority of the complaints are dealer generated.

My opinion is that it is supplier related as they supply defective components to the RV industry and they need to be held accountable. I work in purchasing in the medical device industry and we hold our suppliers responsible for customer defects. I believe the auto industry holds their supplier's responsible so why not the RV industry??

We got a call from General today saying that the Prime Time rep is going to replace the cap.

Well there you go! Gotta just love Forest River and Prime Time for standing behind their products.

As soon as the campground closes I'm taking it in to have it replaced. It's nice after the warranty runs out they still cover things like that.

Forest River is a stand up company. They do so much more than they really need to in so many instances, and not because they're forced to -- they choose to go above and beyond most RV owners' expectations.

I am thrilled to own a Forest River product.

I have a 2012 Crusader with the "Brown Fade" and I know first hand that River Forest/Prime Time won't do anything for the problem. It is too old and out of warranty so I'm told. My 3 yr. old trailer look 15 yrs. old . If it's two yrs. old or newer they will fix it but there is no loyalty to consumers. Stand up company....I think not. As far as River Forest product this is my second, I had a Sierra that fell apart in 3 yrs., I think this is my last.
