I wish to purchase a EMS HW30C hard wired surge protector. My husband can install it but we don't know where the power wire is in our trailer. 2014 Primetime Lacrosse 323RST. Does anyone know were it is? Thanks a bunch, really don't want to pay camping world $220 to put it in.

It will be behind breaker box panel. I don't know if it is the best place to mount EMS. It worked for me but it may be to tight for you. But it's a start.

I put the same unit in my TT. It works great when it works. Meaning it is a bit temperamental when it comes to low voltage. At some campsites you may have to turn it off to get power to your trailer. Has happened to me twice, both low voltage events.

Go outside and see where the power cord goes into your trailer... then go inside to the same location and see what's there. You may find the power system door or a cabinet door or screwed in panel or, in my case, the furnace.

+1. Inside the trailer on the wall where the power cord attaches is a dresser on my unit. The dealer wired it up down in there and put the display on the side of the dresser -- works just fine.

Surge Proector
I would like to thank everyone for all of your help. Where we attach the power cord is an end table with counter top material on top with a couch next to it. My husband looked in there and didn't see any screws to enable the table's removal. Maybe I will drive to General RV tomorrow and try to sweet talk the guy in service to tell me where it is.

How far is it from this end table to your power center -- the door behind which live your fuses and breakers? I assume your power cord runs from under your end table to the power center.

Hi,
I would not say your EMS HW30C is being temperamental, the unit is doing exactly what it is designed to do. The unit is preventing a low voltage situation from doing damage to your trailer. You say "at some campsites you may have to turn it off" is the worst advise you could possibly give here. The unit is doing it's job and telling you to get the park sevice guys to your site or leave the park. We spend extra cash to buy a EMS and not a surge protector to protect our trailers from many conditions that a standard unit would not protect us from.

As crunchman12001 says in a later post, this is one of the protective functions of an ems. If you are encountering low voltage situations where you are staying, you may want to look into a hughes autoformer. It should be placed between the incoming power and the ems and will boost the voltage to acceptable levels of power (unless incoming power is extremely low)

Pull the converter/power panel inside. Very easy to do, usually 4 screws and look behind it. 9.9 times out of ten there is room for the install. I installed one at a rally for a member in about a hour or less. Hardest part is working with the stiff wire. A section of 8-3 appliance cord will make things easier.
