PT Outside Kitchen owners

I noticed that I have plastic like caps inside the hole where the front storage compartment slam latches connect. My two slam latches on the outside kitchen doors do not have those on mine. If you look in the hole you see treated plywood and part of the aluminum frame. I would like to keep moisture away from the plywood. Do your outside kitchen slam latches have a barrier inside the hole where the latches close? Looks like an easy adaptation...just take off the hardware and put them in and then reinstall the metal hardware.

I believe I know what you're talking about, but pics would be nice. I don't have the outside kitchen, but I do have the slam shut doors on my pass through storage.
