Questions About Buying New Fifth Wheel

Hello Everyone,
We are getting ready to buy a new Fifth Wheel Camper. Looking at 2019 Crusader Prime Time 26RE Lightweight. Does anyone own one of these, and what are the opinons on these campers? I am working with Trail Side RV in Missouri, and has anyone done business with them? Thank you for any information on this topic.

After reading through most of these post in this sub-forum, I have made a list of the things you all have reported as problems on your Prime Time Campers and will ask the dealer about them. Our Cherokee Grey Wolf has been an awesome fifth wheel for 10 years, and i just don't want to end up with a problem rig because we really like the floor plan.

It's hit or miss buying any brand unit regardless of what the salesman tells you.

Quality Control is nonexistent in the rv industry.
Take your time, do a good PDI, make sure everything works, use your cell phone camera and ask a lot of questions. If you find something you really don't like , walk away!

PrimeTime does stand behind their units fairly well after the sale.

Good-luck

Own a rear entry

Our Crusader fifth wheel is a rear entry we purchased new in 2012. Zero issues. I've heard others say Primetime isn't easy to work with on warranty issues, but at this point we are beyond that and have no complaints. It's a 30' dual slide. I'm finding rear entry with multiple slides is near impossible to find unless you are willing to go 34' and longer. We don't have the parking space for anything beyond 30'. Good luck with your decision.

We have made an appointment for September 26th to go and pick up our new camper. Crusader Lite 26RE. So I hope we made the right decision on which make and model to go with. We had zero issues with our Grey Wolf. Always a little scary when you are trading something you had a great experience with to go with something new. I will post pictures after we get it hooked up. We are spending the weekend of 26th in Missouri camping. Never been to any Missouri State Parks, so it should be fun. Thank you for your replies.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I have only posted once a couple years ago. Usually leave this part to my DH. We currently have a Forest River 255RR Toyhauler. We are actually more land docked now so are looking for a little more comfort than utilitarian. We are currently looking at a 2018 Prime Time Crusader Lite 27rk. Love the floor plan of the 27rk and we are familiar with the less than luster craftsmanship of current new RV's. We had several problems with our 255RR our 1st year. It is a 2018. We are also looking at Trailside RV in Missouri. Any opinions on the 2018 27rk? Ours will be land docked 99% of the time but will still take it out once or twice a year. Not expecting perfection, but would like no major issues.

Hello and good morning.
We are picking up our new Prime Time Crusader Lite 26RE September 26th from Trail Side RV in Missouri. This is our first time doing business them. They were very easy to work with. They are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I will post more after we go down there and get our new fifth wheel picked up. This is our first Prime Time camper, we have had 2008 Cherokee Grey Wolf so I can not comment on Prime Time yet. We hope that we picked the right one because we never had an issue with our Grey Wolf. I will post some pictures on here when we settle up with Trail Side RV. Good luck and let us know how your experience is working with them.

One thing you'll probably notice coming from a 2008 to 2019-2020 ?? is the "Build Quality" We had a 2007 Jayco and picked up a 2018 Cherokee and the difference in build quality was "QUITE" noticeable. As they say..."They don't build them like they use to."

Our New Crusader 26RE

Hello All,
We survived the trip with all the heavy rain and storms. Watkins Mills State Park was nice. Met some new camping fiends too. Here is a couple of pics of our new 5th wheel camper.

Our Experience Buying The New Camper

Hello Again,
Here was our experience purchasing our new 5th wheel camper, we bought it from Trail Side RV in Kansas City, (Grain Valley MO.). They were wonderful people to deal with on the sales side of it. Now we did have a problem with an electrical short, so we called them on Saturday and explained what was going on with it. They looked us up and saw we were from Nebraska, (5 hour drive) and asked what we wanted to do. I asked if we could bring it in on Monday before we pulled it home. The service department said they (the service department) was closed on Mondays but since we were from Nebraska they would bring in a Tech to fix our problem. That is customer service above and beyond in my opinion. I would recommend them to family and friends. While we were camping at Watkins Mill, we met two other couples that bought their campers from them too. And both said they loved doing business with them. The 5th wheel camper is fixed and we loved every bit of our experience with Trail Side RV.
