Rear axle almost comes off
A few days into our ten week trip we experienced this potential major problem. Going over a bridge abutment on I-65 I felt an uncomfortable thump. Looked in the mirror and saw the rear of the trailer going into the passing lane. Was able to pull over immediately and stop. Saw the rear axle came off the perch and moved back to the rear spring hanger, now set at a 45 degree angle. Called Prime Time who said they would have Dexter axle contact us. Within 5 minutes Dexter called back said they would have a mobile RV repair come and try to fix. Within an hour the axle was back in place minus a leaf and we were on our way, about 150 miles from Goshen, IN limping to Elkhart Fairgrounds.
As we are making our way to Elkhart Connie from Dexter called back and informs us since we will be in Elkhart and the axle is under warranty they will replace both axles, all four brakes, hubs and all the springs. Work to be done at our camp site. Two days later Mike from Dexter pulls up in the truck, unloads to complete axles and suspension systems and within three hours takes off the old puts on the new, checks out the wiring, adds parts to the equalizer and is done. He loads old parts into truck, wash's his hands, sign the paper work, "have a safe trip" he's on his way.
Now after 9,000 miles, still going strong and three weeks till we are home. Thank you PT and Dexter.
