Repacking Wheel Bearings

This may sound like a crazy question, but I'm serious. I understand the purpose of repacking wheel bearings (lubrication), but what I don't understand is if I can drive my truck without packing the bearings every year, what makes this necessary with a TT? If the technology is available for automotive, why isn't it applied to trailers? Boat trailers get submerged..makes sense to repack, but a trailer is exposed to the same conditions as a truck/car.

I'm sure I'm missing something....any info is appreciated.

I think they say that to limit liability. If you don't do it and have a problem its not their problem.
The bearings are really cheap compared to automotive hubs. You can get trailer bearings for about $5 each at a trailer shop and chevy 1500 rear axle bearings are about $50 each.
As on boat trailer, tt, vehicle or what ever, the seal failing and allowing contaminates or moisture, or allowing grease or oil out is what usually causes bearing failure.

Btw I repack or replace my boat bearings alternating replace and repack every other year.
