Road Rider ST tires

These tires are what came on my Lacrosse. Has anyone had any problems with these, particularly premature failure? I am mildly concerned as I have never heard of them, but have heard and seen pictures from other unknown tire brands and the damage caused by catastrophic failures. Looks like they are made by Dynamic Tire Corp, out of Canada. Not sure if that is where these tires are made, but I would guess China. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I never bothered to look at the brand of my tires on my 303 RKS and it's in storage right now but, we bought it in early September from Schaeffer RV in Hamburg, Pa and towed it 2 hours to Gettysburg. A couple more 50 - 60 mile round trips from home to campsite, a round trip to New Hampshire and a round trip to Myrtle Beach in December and I didn't see anything unusual. So hopefully, if we all have the same tires, we won't have any problems.

Have them on my crusader. So far so good. If you keep them covered when parked, full of air and replace when they start to crack, I believe you can avoid most tire problems

What is the DOT code on the tires?
That will tell you where they are made.
I have the codes, so if you post I can tell you the origin.

Crocus,

Thanks but the trailer is in storage so I am unable to get the codes. However, I am positive they are made in China by looking closely at the picture from Dynamic. Somewhat troubling is that it appears the tires are no longer made.

In most circles they are called China bombs for a reason. Your choice as always but if it were me I would get them off this spring and replace them with a quality tire NOT made in China. Either that or be prepared for the damage when they start self destructing at 65MPH.

Well, I just replaced the Chinese tires on my brand-new camper with Maxxis 8-plies, so what can I say?

These tires are definitely still being made. They are pulled out of the same mold as a retail-sold tire called Tow Max. LaCrosse's have a 15" 8-Ply "D" Range specification. They are radial constructed.

At the expense of sounding like a lawyer, substitutions might occur from time to time .

Thanks RV Guy. I had Tow Max tires on my last fifth wheel and they were a good tire. Reading this helps alleviate my initial concerns.

2011 unit / 3 year old unit or it could even be 4 years old the way mfg jump ahead in model years. (now selling 2015s) I give some serious thought of new tires.

If you keep the new tires pumped to max sidewall pressure, you might get one year on them, but not much more. I personally won't pull a new camper off the dealers lot with factory tires. I switch to GY Marathons LR D @ the dealer. Might want to try to get the dealer to do something.

Had mine 1 season. Love the trailer - small issues - nothing design wise except the bottom of kitchen slide darco fabric wearing - dealer repaired all. Just went to an rv show and decided I would buy mine again before what I saw there.. Truck is a duramax diesel and tows the trailer GREAT. We go over huge passes every trip. Upgrades to trailer include a maxx fan w/remote in bedroom and fantastic fan (create a breeze)in bathroom. AE slide toppers. 2- 6volt golf cart US batteries. Looking into solar but may wait untill we actually do more dry camping. I have a yamaha 2400is I will be testing with the dometic hc air to see if it will go. Not likely but since the dometic is advertised as "most energy efficient" and does appear to have a start capacitor - maybe - we'll see. Also just bought a progressive industries pt50c for park power protection (I've been in some bad ones).

Would like to talk to you on phone have some questions. I haven't picked mine up yet but I am concerned about my truck being to high & carryin this camper nose high. Do you have 15 or 16 inch tires? When I bought the camper the salesman told me it had 16 after deal was made I found out it had 15" they refuse to make it right & insist it wont madder. Was wondering if you could level yours then measure how high it was to the bottom of pin box.I thinking the 16" wheels will lift the rear of camper 2".My nearest dealer is 135 miles away so I don't want to make the trip til its ready to pick up.In the deal I had them change the furniture from light to dark & in stall a fantastic fan in kitchen.Had to get factory to ship the furniture. That is why I haven't picked it up yet. Thanks I think I send you a message with my home phone number.

Not comfortable with the telephone idea, sorry. I will say if I were you I would hold out for the 16 inch wheels. Not only did it avoid the nose high issue for me but also allows me to mount e rated LT tires in future.

I replaced the original RoadRider D tires on our Crusader 209RLT after 2 seasons and over 10,000 miles with Gladiator load range E ST tires, and have had no issues.
I strongly advise you add a TPMS system for peace of mind when towing, as it takes the guesswork out of the trailer tires' pressure and temperature while towing.

Tow Max

Good to hear. I replaced the tires on my 2010 Flagstaff 829FKSS with 10 ply Tow Max tires. The original 4 ply tires were all heat checked after 2 years.
