Roof Access Ladder for Lacrosse
Hello Everyone, I am picking up my new Lacrosse 318bhs Touring Addition this week and cant wait to get on the road with this awesome rig.
But as with all great things there is always one thing more you want.
I reading info on the Lacrosse there are comments on how strong the roof structure is and a nice photo of some respectable looking men standing on it. My question is, why no ladder to get on the roof. I check my roof before and during trips and also sweep off my slide before closing it so a stick or something does not rip my seals. My dealer (whom I am very happy with) explained that they would have to completly remove the rear wall to install a ladder for me. Not that I dont trust them, but I was wondering if anyone has had one installed or if prime time had the fore sight to preinstall blocking to add one. This is really the only item I would need to make this rig as clos to perfect as possible. I know I could get to the roof with a free standing ladder, but that is very dangerous and hard to take on a trip.

 to the forum and congrats on your new tt. 
PT didn't pre-install the blocking for a ladder. I think it was a cost savings decision. I'm like you and wish they had.
I purchased a light weight, but strong, step ladder at Lowe's that is just tall enough that I can sweep off the slides while camping. It fits easily in the pass through storage.
At home I have a 12' step ladder I use to gain access to the roof for cleaning and maintenance.

I'm stratching my head to understand their thinking that a ladder option isn't desirable as most TT and 5th wheels have them. I'm on the roof every time before I close the slides.
As they have to add blocking or anchor plates for any external mounting the additional cost would be minimal.

I am with Dave on this. I went back to my dealer and told them I wanted a ladder. They called PT and said no sir, no ladders can be mounted or added. That may also be do to my model being rear kitchen, not sure if that's the same on bh.

Our last two campers were rear kitchen models...both had ladders, so that's not the reason.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the telscoping aluminum ladders and that looks like a workable solution, portable and strong. There are to many positives with this trailer to let this issue get in the way, but primetime needs to seriously look at this for their future models, at least provide mounting points to give owners the option.

Mine came with the ladder.......and I use it allot ! Portable one should work fine.....don't let that bother you!

I wish my 2011 Lacrosse 318 had a ladder. Right now..I back up my truck and stand on the edge of the truck bed to sweep off my slideouts everytime I camp. This is a pain.

Hello and welcome! I have had ladders on all but one RV. My current Cardinal 5er has a ladder. But 5years ago I bought a Little Giant ladder. It is perfect for the rv'er.

Second on the Little Giant ladder. Store under bed and the ladder is sturdier than a factory ladder.

Well I personally ordered a xtend and climb after reading reviews and doing some other research. I will let you know how it works for us. It should be here on Thursday. $160 bucks delivered to the door. Its only 28" tall when collapsed and about 30LBS.. Extends to 12 feet. Could be a life save for me! Thanks guys.

Looks like I will be ordering the 12' xtend and climb also. Got on the roof yesterday to sweep the slides using a 9' alum. ladder, I hate stepping off the top step onto a roof. Primetime, please start putting access ladders on these units.

Ladder came in today as promised..Even if we didn't have the travel trailer I wish I had one for years, this thing is awesome. It is exactly has advertised. I dont think you can wrong. The only complaint I have is Amazon shipping packed in a box bigger than many Freezers! It was huge! But once it was all unpacked it weighs in at 26 lbs. Small enough to store in the TT or leave at home to save weight.. I highly recommend it as a solution..

Ladder
Been using an extend ladder for about 7 years, works good and is also useful around the home port.
