Sanibel Problems

New Sanibel 3501 and 1st time out had major water problems. Hooked up to park water using a regulator and had water leaking behind shower wall into the kitchen pantry. Needless to say we're bummed. It's at the dealer now but worried about long term damage.

Long term damage comes from wood getting wet over and over and rotting away or mold growth due to wet conditions. If properly repaired and dried out neither should be an issue. I would have expected that to be found during PDI when they pressurize the system (assuming they did that for the PDI, I know my dealer did and we ran all the faucets myself.)

Thanks for the input. I'm hoping for a simple loose connection and nothing too severe. I didnt check the faucets on the walk thru and should have but the problem took a few hours to develop so I'm not sure I could have detected it.

Good point that it was several hours later. I camped overnight at my dealer (4 hour driver home) so if I found something overnight I could have them address it. So far I have minor stuff on the list, but will get addressed as soon as I get a break in my camping season come September.

We had a similar problem with our 3501. First outing in April w water we had 3 lines leaking behind the docking station. We love the 5er but with the amount of money laid out , you would think quality control wold be better inspected.

If someone from Forest River reads these posts they are probably scratching their heads and asking "what is quality control"?

Did you not test the water system during your pdi?

Some you just don't catch right away. One of ours for example, was behind the shower wall as well. I like access panels to everything. It was when I cut the opening to add an access panel to get to the back of the shower faucet that I found our very slow leak. Could've went on for a while had I not found it. But, I will rip one half apart to check every fitting when they're new, just because we know what can happen.

Well all fixed although I've not had it out yet. Crimp clamp that holds the water line to the male connection behind the shower faucets was not attached correctly. Pressure tested and all good. No, I didn't have it tested in while I was there due to time constraints but if its not right back it goes. Have to say the dealer, General Rv in Huntley Illinois has been great. Thanks for everyones input.
