Sealants

I have used Dicor Lap Sealants for my previous fifth wheel. I am also familiar with Proflex.

Does anyone know what Forest River uses for sealants? Does not appear to be Dicor. Trying to use the same stuff as original so it will maintain look.

For what it is worth, I emailed Forest River with a question while I was looking at the Crusader in late July. They have yet to reply and if they did, it did not go into my junk mail box.

We can't speak for other Forest River divisions, but Prime Time uses Dicor sealants on all of our products.

I can tell that they used the putty tape in all of the joints which is a good thing but it appears to be something other than Dicor in some other areas. It is a very neat application which speaks well of attention to detail. I.E., where the sides and bottom of the slides meet, there is a white sealant that does not appear to Dicor. Although it is white it appears to be more elastic than Dicor.

Thanks for the reply.

I contacted PT shortly after I purchased my tt asking about the same thing. As RV Guy stated, they use Dicor on the roof. On the sides of your tt they use TremPro 644 RTV Silicone made by Tremco.
Here's some addtional info that I received from PT.

I contacted Prime Time this morning with some questions about how the caulking should be applied to the outside running lights, etc... I received the answer this afternoon. Here is their reply;
The marker lights (clearance lights) are to having caulking on the top and on the sides, only the marker lights on the front cap will have the caulk all the way around them. The external speakers will not have caulking, only the putty tape underneath them.

Hopefully this info will help you.

Sorry - I should have given a more complete answer as I was just focused on the roof where we use the lap seal.

We do use putty tape behind most of our moldings and baggage doors.

See Gary's post above - we have switched to the 645 Series from the 644, though. It's slightly thicker and doesn't seem to "smear" quite as much when we install it. Either kind will work great.

Thank you for the detailed, and quick reply. This will be helpful to me, and I am sure others, in the future.
