Seeking Information on 2900BHS

I am considering purchasing a bunkhouse type travel trailer and would like some feedback on the Tracer 2900BHS. I like the dinette/sofa layout and bunk bed sizes although I am not too keen on the coffin type bunks.

One issue that concerns me about this unit is that the sink and range are located on the slide out. I am aware that Tracer has several models that contain similar sink/range slide outs (2910BHS, 2700RES, 2500RBS, 200RQS, 182BHS). It would seem to me that the constant movement of the slide out in and out of position would make the sink/range prone to either a water or gas leak. Has the 2900BHS or any of these other units suffered from the type of issue I am concerned about?

Information on and experiences with the 2900BHS would be greatly appreciated.

The ones I have worked on, none of them Tracer, all use flex lines to handle the movement. There is a post or two on here about the lines getting possibly pinched, but was found when the trailer was new. I would check the routing as best I could with the slide open and closed, and look for pinches or crimps.

Thanks Windrider. I will continue my research and try to locate additional information on the subject. As per your suggestion I will inspect the slide for possible pinches and crimps damage of lines during my next dealership visit.

My parents owned a MH (10 yrs) that had the kitchen slideout and they never had any problems. As windrider said, check all lines to make sure there isn't any crimp areas and all should be good to go.

By the way, love your interest in Prime Time tt's.
Very good solid tt's. We really like ours. I believe you and your family will enjoy the Tracer 2900BHS or any of the other PT models.

Thumbs up

I have looked at that when I purchased my 2900 and the way it is designed and with the flex lines can't see it being a problem. Why not send a direct email in regards to this issue to the company and I am sure they will respond in short order.
Further to the coffin bunks ..they do have windows which is nice and yes a sacrifice for being closed in but the space for sleeping with 2 double bunks is worth the trade off.

At this time you are getting good and accurate feedback from fellow Forum members so I've not chimed in but would be glad to help if we can.

Yorky and RV Guy thanks for your responses.

I have researched the forums and it seems as though there have only been two instances where water lines have failed in similar units. By the information I acquired both instances could have been avoided by vigilance.

It seems as though my concerns regarding the water\gas line failures on the slide out have been premature and any problems have been remedied by Prime Time and other manufactures long before I considered it an issue.

Yorky I am going to have to take your word on the bunks. I am a little claustrophobic and I would have a little trouble sleeping in them. However I would have to agree with you that in comparison to other models, the extra windows do make the space livelier and the generous size bunks make for great sleeping quarters.

ROBOEI - just one last thought. I'm not sure of your sleeping requirements, but if you need any type of bunks, the 2900 is a superior choice over many because of the bunk size and the additional windows. However, if you don't need THAT much sleeping, we could build a 2900 for you leaving off the top bunk. Just a thought . . .

Best of luck in your search and let us know if we can help.

RV Guy - I believe the current bunk configuration will work for my current needs. I don't plan to sleep in the bunks myself but I just want the user to feel comfortable.

Just out of curiosity where would I go to find a replacement for the notched out shaped mattress?

Not sure on that one - the easy answer would be to order it from us, but dealers might have some contacts they use for such things. Obviously, every manufacturer in the industry buys odd-ball sized and shaped bunk matts.

Hi Roboei,

I own a 2010 Tracer 2900 BHS Touring Edition. Have had no problems for the past year. It has been a sold performer.
