Set up time

It's picked up our crusader 320RLT and we are headed out. We have never ever owned a fifth wheel or anything with slides. How much time should we give ourselves to set up once we arrive at campground? We are going somewhere close and with friends who have a fifth wheel in case something doesn't go according to plan!

We had a previous thread on this back in April. Here is my response from that thread....

It all depends on what you mean by "set up." Does that mean that you're backed in, leveled, unhitched, landing gear down, plugged in, step out, slides out, pump on?

Or does that mean, backed in, leveled, unhitched, plugged in, landing gear down, jack stands under, step out, slides out, pump on, rugs out, lawn chairs out, picnic table awning out and set up, extra table put out, ice machine out, filled and plugged in, tablecloths put on outside tables, solar lights out, rv-q grill out and set up, awning out, lights on awning, outside garbage can set up, welcome sign out, thermometer out, shepherds hooks with hanging lanterns out, refrigerator bars removed from outside refrigerator, refrigerator bars removed from inside refrigerator, countertop extension installed, toilet paper holder out, liquid soap dispensers and towels hung up, water heater turned on, antenna up, television scanned for channels, and two cocktails mixed up so you can finally take a breather???

I'd say 20 minutes for the first scenario. 2 hours for the 2nd. Or three, depending upon when you do the last and final step, above.

LOL Right here is when we stop and fast forward to the coctails in hand. The rest comes as we need it. So I would say about 20 minutes.

If I have a cigar and cocktail waiting for me; 20 minutes.
If not, 23 minutes.
You'll become more efficient at it after doing it a few times. Actually, even when I take my time, it's less than 30 minutes. That includes the two lawn chairs and flag.

30 minutes and 2 beers for everything. Oh, I forgot about the satellite dish...add another 10 minutes and a beer.

Well it wasn't too bad. About half an hour with help from others. A few errors. Forgot blocks and chocks but everyone had something we could borrow. Going to camping world today! Forgot coffee filters so pulled out tent camping percolator. Not level yet but will get that figured out. Crusader is excellent first choice for new campers. Only complaint is no outlets in the bedroom. Only on ceiling for tv.

I just set up camp a couple days ago and it took longer than usual because I changed the order I did some tasks. Long story short I ended up undoing some tasks and starting over. I have now learn to unhitch first before lowering the stab jacks and will be going back to the order I set up the awning and lights too.

I have an outlet in our Crusader 320RLT at the base of the bed. When you walk through the door of the bedroom, look down near the floor next to the night stand.

The amount of time it takes is how familiar you are with your trailer and how long it takes to back into your spot. I have alot of time backing up snowmobile trailers and pontoon boats. I usually get it perfect first try. Others I have watched too 20 min just to get the trailer backed in. Also the use of power tools helps with time as a 1/2 cordless impact on the X chocks and leveling Jacks (non 5th wheel) speeds it up. I have to do everything myself now, so I am at about 35 minutes.

More important than how long I feel is the order you do things. as i saw someone that waited till almost the last thing to be done was to hook up shore power...... Are you kidding me???? I back in then X Chocks then hook Shore Power and start AC . Of course this is for Hot areas as I do not want a HOT BOX after I am done setting up. Then Unhitch and level and sewer is last.
