LynnDiesel,
Is there a reason you chose the 3" wide Slick Strips vs. the 12" wide product made by ePlastics?
Your mod looks like the best option for me. Therefore I am getting ready to do this MOD myself & was trying to decide between ordering the 3" wide roll & the 12" wide (which can be ordered by the foot).

The Rhino,
I went with the 3" wide x 50 ft roll because I felt this size would be easier to handle, place more accurately and get the air pockets out. The seams are tight and barely noticeable. The price per square foot is about the same. I cut 28" long pieces for the 24" deep sofa/refrig slideout and will cut 40" long pieces on the 36" dining slideout. I used a complete 50 ft roll on each slideout. The surface must be clean and dry. I trimmed the corners of each strip at a 1/8" 45 degree snip, before removing the paper back. I used a 2.5" wide metal paint scraper (pull, do not push) to apply the final pressure to secure the strips. I also caulked the sides of the slideout wall from the metal trim to the edge of the outer strip with black silicone to prevent water from possibly getting under the strip. Good luck and let us know how it performs for you.

My 2013 - 295RST - has the same issue on the kitchen slide. Dealer is trying to get an approval to apply tape sealant 1st, then some type of a thin and hard strip over the tape so the guides on the floor would only contact the hard strips.. Will keep you posted.

I'm not waiting for PrimeTime to offer any fix, plus my rig is out of warranty now anyway.
The fix I did on my atrium slide has worked out so well (page 10), I did the same on my kitchen slide this week. The only difference was that I raised the room with a jack to get the strip between the rub strip and floor so there is no 'transition' when the room moves in or out. The edges are where the room weight is primarily supported, as evidenced by the pattern of wear on most rigs here. I caught mine before the darco was compromised much and used some sealant between the floor and strip to help keep water out.
It didn't cost me a thing because I had some stuff lying around, and it was not that difficult to do, so Job Done.
I'm really surprised that PrimeTime (others too) let a design like this go to production. Most other things seem to have been thought out better.

zs325RES, did you take any pics of jacking the slide? Could you explain more about how you went about jacking the slide?

Sorry no pics, but I used my floor jack (typical). Knowing the support for the room is on the ends by the front and rear walls, I use a ~12" long 2x3 along the bottom side of the floor along the edge under the walls and lifted using another 2x2 board between the jack and the 2x3, just enough (~1/2") for the floor to clear the rub strips. Simple really.
I hope this paints the picture.

Just completed the dining slideout with Slick Strips from elastics.com. I used the 1/32" thick x 3" wide with pressure sensitive adhesive. I put 12" wide at each end and one 12" wide section in the middle. Jacked up the slide 3/4" and used 40" long strips since the slide travels 36". Very smooth operation. Once you press the strips on with pressure, they do not come off.

I called PT many times and insisted they cover the bottom of the slideouts with something more durable. After weeks of excuses, they would only authorize the dealer to cover the torn fabric with Darco tape. This proceeded to show signs of tearing only after about 5 cycles on the slideout. I immediately bought the Slick Strips from eplastics.com and fixed it permanently. If you let this go too long, moisture will get to the wooden floor and cause bigger problems. There are about 4 good solutions in this forum.
Everyone should still call PT and let them know how you feel. Only a class action lawsuit will get them to do the right thing.
Good Luck!!!

This is a known issue that my 2014 295rst also has. It's a defect in manufacturing and prime time knows it. I would not be concerned that you are a few months past your warranty. The problem didn't just start after your warranty ran out. It existed from the time you bought the unit and again, prime time is aware of the issue on the 295rst kitchen slides.

That darco crap will last for a few cycles of the slide
I cant understand why a top notch company like Primetime doesn't make this right! They sent me strips that my dealer installed. So far so good

Wouldn't be too sure about being in warranty. This thread goes back one year and Prime Time has said NOTHING about repairs or warranty. Only apply more tape that has already failed.

There may be a wear strip under the slide as opposed to rollers. My slide chattered when I opened or closed it. Manufacturer's rep suggested I use a product called Zep 45 on the underside of the floor. It is a silicone based product used in the food industry and is touted to be one of the few lubricants that actually work on this material. Other silicone products may make it worse.
Hope this helps.
Ron

After following this story for a year now I have decided not to buy a Crusader. I feel Primetime has not done enough to solve this problem. When you are paying $50,000 plus and they have not solved this problem it turned me away. There seems to be to many frustrated owners having this problem. I looked at the Crusaders and I liked them and looked at many of them. Always looking under the slides and along the bottom edges. We just didn't feel good about buying one and then having this issue. Where has RV GUY gone? He use to be on this website daily.
