Stabilizer- help please

Just almost enjoyed our first night except
Every time anyone rolled over or went to the restroom the trailer rolled/shook/swayed/bounced
I have stabilizer down BUT ? is when do I know their correct? Don't want to break them if too much force or can I ?

I may not do it correctly, but I put mine down until I hear a difference in the motor, like it could almost start lifting the trailer. Most of the rocking and rolling you feel probably is backwards and forwards motion. I was outside during our last campout and noticed a descent amount of movement from the tires when people moved around. Now I have a set of X-Chocks on my Christmas list to prevent much of this.

What you are experiencing is nothing unusual. You have to remember the tt is sitting on the tires and suspension, which are made to flex.
You probably can put a little more pressure on the stabilizer jacks without damaging them. Just don't try to lift up the tt.
Some of us have purchased products like the BAL X-Chocks which eliminate the fore and aft movement.
I have read where some have added scissor jacks close to the tires on each side of the tt. They claim this works realy well.

I applied a little more pressure on the stabilizer jacks and it made a world of difference! Now next trip I'll raise the door side of the tt so I don't get dripped on from the AC condensation. Live n learn!!

Agreed... I hate getting dripped on every time I get into my storage area. Would be nice if the gutter spout wouldn't be dead center above the storage door.

If you are getting the x-chocks, make sure you get the xtended versions.

Dont put too much pressure on the stabilzers. My husband did, and one of them broke. Thank you PT for replacing it, even though it was probably our fault.

Last time he bought some extra jacks and put them near the wheels, and it made a big diff. Still, nothing is going to stop the fact that this thing is mostly on tires.

Happijac stabilizer bars might be what your looking for!
And if your dh is handy he can make them himself.
I made my own but they are for front 5th wheel stabilizers.
One from side to side from jack to frame
And one for and aft from jack to frame does the trick.
Triangulation is the key!

Once you get the stabilizers down where you want them, you can use stationary jackstands to take the pressure off the stabilizers.

I bought two good truck cargo bars (found at most auto part stores and Walmart) and fashioned my own stabilizers cross-bars. It made a significant difference in stopping the movement.

Just wanted to provide a review on one of the stabilizing bar systems. I picked up a set of the "LockArm Jack Satbilizing Bar" from PPL for $67. I mounted them on the landing gear of my 5ver and along with the xchocks I already had, i am amazed at the difference it made. there is no movement whatsoever on the frond end of my rig no matter how much I push on it. The rear is still wiggly but I'm going to try some cargo jacks back there and if it helps, probably get another set of the lock arms for a permanent fix.

Wouldn't the slide locks that came with the trailer(that we never use for that purpose) work in the instance that frankm has in his picture?

If they are long enough, they should. I never got any with my camper though.

Do you mean--don't use them to stabilize or you didn't get any with your rig? I haven't taken mine out of the closet to even see if they would work.

I use x-chocks and it makes a big difference. I've not tried the scissor jacks by the wheels yet, but I've heard from several folks that they make a differences too.

I have the electric stabilizers on each corner, use xchocks and a stacker jack on each side under the frame just ahead of the front tires. Still a little bounce but it's a trailer!

This weekend's trip was the first after installing the Happijack stabilizers. Big difference! I also use the BAL wheel chock.
