Test Tow - 3150BHD

Our 3150 finally came in, so we headed up to the dealer today to clear the last hurdle - the test tow. Hooked it up behind our 2009 F-150 FX4 Super Crew 5.4L w/ a dealer supplied stabilizer, and off we went. I was actually very impressed with how well it went. Truck never labored, and the length really wasn't an issue as long as you watched yourself over tighter corners. Obviously we'll be adding some weight when it comes to a real camping trip, but I feel confident we'll have no problem with it.

As the dealer is 2 hours away, I can't go pick it up now until the 25th - can't wait to get it home and packed up. It's a late start to our short Alberta camping season this year, but we'll make the most of it.

Attached a pic for you guys.

Yes, the picture is visable in the second post. What a great looking trailer! Can't wait for pictures of the inside.

Congrats on the new trailer. Great pics. Very nice looking tt.

My son has the same truck as you, same color. He really likes it. Good dealer to let you test tow.

I know the 25th can't get here soon enough, but you can be getting all your gear together and start planning that first trip out.

Good luck and happy camping!

Thanks very much - I couldn't even tell you how many hours we spent researching and looking at trailers before we found this one. I think we are going to be very happy with it. Found a few issues on walkthrough (drawer bent so it doesn't close totally, AC vent cover falling down, hot water switch crooked, some wiring showing), but it hasn't been thru the PDI yet either so I'm sure they'll catch things like that.

We dealt at Arrkann RV in Edmonton, AB - great group they have there. Every person I've met in every department is friendly and goes out of their way to talk to you and make sure you are taken care of. I can't say enough good things about them.

As for the truck - been pricing out the same truck but w/ an Ecoboost....but convincing the wife is tough after dropping a bunch of cash on a new TT already

Great pics! Love the outside kitchen. Ditto on the comment about being allowed to test tow first - just doesn't happen at many places.

I would give the dealer a heads up on anything you have noticed that needs attention - don't wait for the PDI to say anything.

Nice unit! I know what you mean on the research.... I spent hours weighing the pros/ cons of everything before I decided on my 29QBDS Salem. It's a huge decision. I had a Jayco 30BHS before this one which I never LOVED, thought I wanted Smooth sides this time but decided the floorplan of what I got was better for our family than what I was finding in the other units so I settled on the stick and tin.

Buying a new rig is as much of a fun process for me as actually camping Love that Tracer!

Congrats on the new rig...looks great. They do tow nice despite what some say over on the other forum. I went through a 3 year process searching for the right trailer and almost pulled the trigger a couple of times. My daughters were tired of going to RV shows. In fact, if we even joke with them now about going to a show we get collective growns and complaints. As you can see went with the 318bhs without regrets. I wanted to make sure to get the right one this time to avoid looking for an upgrade in 2 or 3 years.

Very nice unit. I know all about that Alberta weather. We fight it every weekend. But with the right unit, it make it enjoyable to out of the house and away from the LAWN.

Enjoy and hope to see you in the campground somewhere.

I agree with Terier - call the dealer and get them started on all the things you noticed already, you want those things done before you pick up the unit on the 25th. There will be more issues of course, some might be found on the PDI, some after you start using it, but get those you have noticed knocked off the list right away so you are starting on a clean slate. In particular I'd suggest this because of the distance to Edmonton. They have local customers who can bring their RVs over with little notice or on their way to work. For you it is it's a trip! I really like the layout you have. I'm thinking this layout in a class C (so you don't lose the up front bed) would be a winner!
