White is the easiest color to clean and keep clean, dark colors show everything. I have a Dark Blue F150 now and it is nearly impossible to keep this thing clean.

Just don't get a "slider" hitch if you are getting a newer 5th.wheel. You don't need it as the front caps of the newer 5th. wheel's are contoured in. Plus you don't need the extra weight of the slider hitch.
My f-150 eco-boost does fine pulling and is not overloaded with the HD trailer package added to the truck. Gets 9 MPG doing 65 MPH. Never go over 65 MPH with any trailer.

I don't have the Max Payload so even pulling a 295 I am overloaded as my Max Pay is 1520 295 Crusader is 1238, so I have to stick to my Roo for now and my F150 which I am fine with, maybe in 2 years I can upgrade everything.

Huh? My F150 is rated for 1520/9600 Payload/Max Tow, I have about 600 in payload and 6,000 total trailer weight? How is my driveline strained? I change the oil and do all the proper maintenance, actually Ford does.

Wow I pull my 2011 295 Crusader 5er with a 2010 ram 3500 diesel. Couldn't imagine pulling with anything less than a 2500.

I pulled a Wildcat 27RL with my F150 and it did it just fine. Sufficient power and very stable without any white knuckle issues. I ended up trading it in for an F350 which had 1500 lbs more cargo carrying capacity. I now can put my wife and dogs and some gear in the truck instead of having them ride in a separate vehicle.

I scoff when I see online ads saying that a fiver is 1/2 ton rated and then the dry weight pin weight is 1250 lbs or more. That doesn't leave much left for pax and cargo.

BTW, my fiver has contoured cap and it still could hit my F150 cab with a 6.5' bed. Having a slider is nice insurance and you can find them cheap all day long used on craigslist.

4 years ago, my wife and I had a Chevy 2500 gasser and a 25 ft trailer. We traded up to 26 ft 5er. We had the unit 4 months, heading back home from campground when the unit started chucking, wife looked at me and said those magic words, WE NEED A BIGGER TRUCK. I found a decent deal on a 2008 SRW 3500, we'll never go back. We just moved up to a 2016 295 RSK. We hardly know the camper is there.

LOL, on top of that she refuses to drive the truck, let alone with the 5er hooked up. She says that the truck is too big

Gas ¾ tons are also an option we keep mentioning diesel and I agree diesel is very nice indeed. For me when I was out making my purchase I could not justify the purchase price of the diesel truck at this stage of RVing. If we were full time, then yes I would have purchased the diesel but we are not full timing. Purchased a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 6.0 gas new that was a 2015 leftover, truck is loaded paid $38,500 sticker was 53K that’s a number I can live with since I also purchased the 2016 Crusader this year as well had to keep everything in line with the bottom line $$.

Do I have any regrets? Nope this truck gets the job done keeping in mind I am not killing it either. Our Crusader 296 BHS is 1300 hitch and 8990. We have towed it to (FL pancake land nice and flat)GA, TN, NC, SC, in the mountains and it works. If we had more weight and a larger 5er perhaps it would feel more sluggish. For now we are happy the Silverado 2500HD 6.0 gas will work for many years of RVing.

Side note never owned a Chevrolet before we are very impressed so far I put 11,500 miles on the truck in five months.

We tow our 2014 Crusader 325RES with a 2012 Chev 2500HD gasser as well.

However, we are seasonal so only tow twice a year right now about 100 miles each way from flat land by Lake Erie to the heart of Mohican country with no issues.

That being said, we ( as in "me") are shopping for a new setup which will require a bigger, diesel pickup this time as "we" are looking at a new Silverback to do some traveling in the winter months. We have had diesels before and they are the way to go for hauling unless you want to drive a Kenworth 😊.
