wall plugs ac only or ac/dc

We were packing the trailer for our upcoming trip a couple of days ago and wanted to use a fan to move some air around while we worked. Plugged the fan in and it wouldn't come on (just using the battery). Tried 2 or 3 different ones and still nothing. Called the dealership and the woman that answered the phone said they were ac only. Anyone have any idea if thats correct or know of somewhere else I can find some information? The lights work and I can move the slide out so I know that I'm getting dc power to other things in the trailer.

Thanks,

Jimmie

The wall outlets in your TT are 120VAC. and will only operate when connected to shore power or an generator. This is the same for items like the AC and microwave. The lights, vent fan, slide, furnace and fridge and WH control boards all operate from 12VDC. There is some excellent information in the library section of the forum on the electrical systems in RVs.
Your dealer was correct.

Normally the wall receptacles that have two slots and a hole for ground in a rig are AC only. You may have 12V receptacle that looks like a cigar lighter somewhere or USB plugs.

You did, had an old person moment and didn't think to look at it again.

We all do. Read the converter or inverter, they are different thread that is in the link I sent you above. That'll give you a fast synopsis.

I'm guessing this wasn't covered in the PDI?

12v Power

I couldn't believe that my trailer didn't come with a single 12v outlet. That was one of the first mods I made. We boondock all the time, so I needed that just to charge the phones. For air movement, the Fantastic fan in the bathroom works pretty well.
